yes it works very well. I have not had any problems with it. It works in two ways. The Vonage adapter would send a signal to my phone and the "Message Waiting" message comes on my LCD. Also when I turn on the phone to call, a stutter tone can be heard which also means a message is waiting.
My panasonic (I don't have the model number with me at work but I can give it to you from home later) also has a voicemail access item in its menu that lets me program in *123PPXXXXPP11 where the *123 is the access to voicemail from your home phone the "P" tells the phone to wait for 3 secs or something like that. XXXX is my pin and then 11 is what needs to be pressed to hear the message.
So when I tell the phone to call vm, I just need to select it on my menu and it does the dialing for me automatically. The phone I got automatically turns on the speaker phone when I access my vm so I don't even have to hold onto the handset.
I believe these features are widely available now on cordless systems.
There are two issues that I have ran into on occassion.
1. When you are done listening to the vm, you can delete it by hitting 3 and then you should hit * to exit the system. Sometimes, the phone still says message waiting if I don't do it.
2. When I call in, sometimes it takes the system a bit longer than normal and I have to manually punch in my PIN etc.
But these are rare instances and do not happen regularly with me.
A minor inconvenience which I can easily overcome.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you want that model number. It's a 2.4 GHz system. Also, the phone battery is NiMH which is a much better battery than the usual NiCd batteries.
