wow there's a lot of stuff in this post

first - you can change a voice line to fax and a fax line to voice ... but only certain departments (not general) have the ability to do this (one of these is cancellations)

second - you should get a persons name and id number ... its available for a reason ... just as you should be able to speak to the customer service rep as another human being ... not a verbal punching bag

third - as in every other job, there are people who will work hard and do an excellent job and are proud of their work and those who do a minimum and slide by ... everyone who has a job knows people in each of these catagories (and there's too many and's in that thought)

fourth - CSRs have restrictions in their ability to issue credits .. these restrictions come from management ... if a CSR cannot help you then politely ask for someone who can ... there are NOT always available supervisors to take calls for customers but one can eventually be found if the problem can not be resolved

fifth - being put on hold depends on the rep ... sometimes i'm sure it does mean the rep is taking a break or getting dinner ... but other times its so the caller doesn't hear dead silence or typing while the rep is handling the issue

sixth - i'm glad that this forum is here ... it allows a little more discussion between people and not bashing one way or the other
