Vonage when setting up your device, if having problems: 1. power down dsl/cable



when setting up your device, if having problems:

1. power down dsl/cable modem
2. connect device directly into dsl/cable modem
3. power up dsl/cable (wait for it to connect)
4. power up device (wait 4 it to connect or register)if possible
(may need to recycle power on all again)
5. Configure connected into dsl/cable modem directly.
6. power down device then power down dsl/cable modem
7. connect router to dls/cable modem
8. connect device to router
9 power up 1st dsl/cable 2nd. router 3rd. device. (wait 4 each to connect before connecting next.
10. (may need to repeat power cycle for all once at this point)
11. in router settings set device on DMZ and top priority in QoS
12.power cycle device.


other note-
UtStar f1000 wifi phone: if registering new 1st time out of box you will probably need level 2 tech support to give you the factory admin password to do a factory reset on it. ( i know 3 other people besides myself that had to do that ). After level 1 waist your time , level 2 will get it going in less than 2 minutes. I don't think they are preconfigured like other devices before shipping.(had same issue with BroadVoice Voip also.)

P.S. If they try the provisioned Admin key first ((the Vonage key) which won't work untill phone resisters) write it down as this is the way to get into admin settings on your phone or device. AND DONT EVER TRY TO CHANGE THIS PASSWORD AS IT IS THE ONE THAT LOGS/REGISTERS YOUR PHONE TO Vonage SERVICE!!! BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS, AS TINKERING AROUND ADMIN SETTINGS WILL BE DANGEROUS AND CAUSE YOUR PHONE NOT TO FUNCTION
