well. the extra rings issue has apparently gone away - it lasted a couple of hours, it looks like. and so far i haven't had another case of incorrect caller id being sent out when i call out (though i haven't called too many people)... but it is exceedingly curious that it happened in the first place.
and to answer the previous question which i apparently forgot to address yesterday, there is no bizarre activity in my call log on the Vonage site. the call in question which sent the incorrect caller id did appear in my outgoing calls log, so their system recognized it as "my call", but somehow sent the incorrect caller id info. i did a quick once-over on my other call logs and didn't notice any calls that should not have been there (i.e., ones i've not made) but i also couldn't really tell if there were calls missing which i did make and perhaps got credited to someone else. who knows...
guess i'll just have to keep an eye out. but it's kinda hard to know if it happens since i can't ask everyone i call what the caller id info was for me... how weird would that be if every time someone called you they asked what the caller id said? :P
