Vonage VoIP - Inbound calls going to network availability number
I was having problems all yesterday (Feb 2nd). Outbound calls, either: ring ring ring fast-busy, ring ring ring silence, or just fast-busy. (outbound calls from my cell phone to the same target number always went through) Inbound calls (I have Simulring set up) would ring on my alternate number BEFORE ringing on the Vonage-connected phone (usually Von phone rang first before my alternate phone rang). [b:90e99b6632]Sometimes it only rang on the alternate phone. [/b:90e99b6632]If I tried to answer the Vonage phone, it would disconnect. If I tried to answer the alternate phone, I could usually get the connection but then there would also be a blank voicemail left on the Vonage voicemail. Ocassionally I would get to speak to someone (outbound or inbound) but shortly in the conversation it would cut me off (disconnect the call). Unplugging and replugging the power to the Vonage box (resetting the system) did not clear the problem. I tried to call Vonage Tech Support and it said the wait would probably be 20 minutes (which is unusually long for VTS). I finally unplugged my Vonage phone for the day and let all calls go to the alternate number. This morning, so far, it seems to be working. I haven't found anything on the Internet to indicate there was a Vonage-wide problem. I suspect there was and that it has been corrected by now (Feb 3rd).
Vonage VoIP - Inbound calls going to network availability number
This morning all inbound calls from non-Vonage numbers are hitting my cellphone (network availability number) and not ringing on the house phone. However inbound calls originating from other Vonage customers are ringing through normally. Sounds like Vonage is having inbound routing issues. Anyone else noticing this?
Vonage VoIP - how to start VOIP with Vonage
Hello, I started my VOIP system and I need to connect it to out site of my country. How I can do this? What is Vonage can do to me? thanks
Vonage VoIP - Connecting Vonage Box to Wirless Network
My Comcast Internet cable outlet is located in a room apart from where my Vonage phone will be used. I am currently currently using a Motorola SBG6580 eXtreme Wireless Cable Modem Gateway for wireless connections to my laptop and printer, and wish to connect to the Vonage Box through this same wireless connection. Questions... 1. Can this be done? 2. If so.. can you please provide me with directions to accomplish the connection, or point me to a site that can? Thank you, Stevebo
Vonage VoIP - modem/router combo and phone ports
Thanks for the response. Here is part of a full page review on the 7270 which appears to be $100 cheaper than the 7390 which retails for $400: Setting these problems aside, the FRITZ!Box is a perfectly priced and ideally configured device for one category of customers — professionals with a small home office, or companies of only a handful of staff members. That item would appear to be overkill for me and out of my league. Draytek also appears to be better suited to the business world. My needs are residential. For general purpose home use 7270 is great as well. It has all the features of 7390 (n-Wifi, LAN, VOIP, Dect). The difference between the two is that 7390 has VDSL option in addition to ADSL, 1000mbps hardwire connection, simultaneous dual band on wifi that gives you upto 300mbps (your actual upload/downlaod speed depends on your internet connection) but dual band is prefered for media streaming. For $100 more if you do not care about the features I mentioned, 7270 works great. I was considering 7270 earlier as well for the exact same reason ($100 or so less), however I do watch internet on TV and reconsidered my decision later; besides the shop I went to in Austria didn't had 7270 in stock, so my decision at the time of purchase became much easier. I have seen Draytek in person in London, the shop didn't had the actual VOIP version in stock. This system is cheaper but doesn't come with Dect. The system otherwise looked equally robust. I have 7390 installed at home, it has a very strong software configuration menu, got it working on ADSL (eliminated additional ADSL that I had from AT&T) and am now trying to find Vonage SIP settings. Dect works fine as well and so does wifi. It is less hotter than NEtgear N600 (WNDR3400) that I had earlier. Will let you folks know when I get it configured with Vonage. If you have time and better luck sooner than me, please do post the settings here. Good Luck.

Vonage VoIP - modem/router combo and phone ports
Thanks for the response. Do you recommend any combo with the vonage router that I have? Fritzbox 7390 (German company AVM) is what you need. It is however not available in US. You can order from European Amazon or from their website directly. It has everything you need, including built in ADSL modem and Dect phone where you can register Panasonic or other Dect devices. Check www.fritzbox.eu ... I have purchased one from Austria during the last trip and am working on configuring to Vonage. I need to get SIP settings from Vonage to do so. I will keep you posted here on the outcome. The other company that sells a similar device is Draytek, available in UK.
Vonage VoIP - Caller ID Passthrough to Handset?
Which Vonage device do you have? You may have to change some settings either on the phone or the Vonage device or you have a bad device. I have the one that looks like this: [img:084db6a0e7]http://nomihodai.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/device_vportal_callout.gif[/img:084db6a0e7] Not sure what it is called. So it should be possible with my device? I'll have to log in to the configuration page and see if I can figure it out.

Vonage VoIP - modem/router combo and phone ports
There are modem router combos, but none of them have phone ports. The Vonage device should work with any router, even a modem/router combo.
Vonage VoIP - Caller ID Passthrough to Handset?
Hi all, I apologize if this topic has been covered already. I did a quick google search and didn't find anything. I recently moved our vonage box as part of a home project to clean up wires (I also moved our main router, etc.) Now the vonage box is pretty far from the phone and no longer visible when it rings. We used to just look at the vonage box to see who was calling, but now we cant. The phone we use is caller ID compatible and has a screen on it, but the vonage box doesn't seem to be forwarding the caller ID data to the handset. Is it possible to do this? Any ideas what could be wrong? Thanks for the help. --Matt
Vonage VoIP - modem/router combo and phone ports
Have a Motorola sb5100 surboard modem which is a is a docsis 1.1 and a Vonage vwr-vd router with 2 phone ports. Need to update to a docsis 3.0 modem. Am looking at some gateway combos but it is a daunting task for me. Charter cable recommends a Motorola 6580. However, it does not have any phone ports. Is there a modem/router combo with phone ports? If not is the Vonage vwr-vd ok to use with a combo? Any help would be appreciated.

Vonage VoIP - DTMF problem with Vonage and Intercall Reservation Plus
Did you resolve your problem? I contacted Vonage with the exact same scenario on 12/2. They refreshed the DTMF settings on my Vonage phone adapter from their end. I rebooted and didn't have any additional problems until I had to get a new Vonage device on 1/10. The problems with dialing into a conference line came right back. It was very frustrating and would take 5-6 tries to get in. I asked Vonage to refresh the DTMF settings on my new device, and things seem to be going smoothly so far. Good luck! It stinks to be late to meetings because of technical difficulties...
Vonage VoIP - VDV22 and connections to ZyXel USG100
How about T1 - VDV22 - Zyxel ZWUSG100 - cable modem - VDV22 - Zyxel ZWUSG100 - Use static IP's for both ports on the ZWUSG100 and turn off the DHCP server on both the VDV22 In fact you could turn off the DHCP server on the cable modem also. This whiteboard time with listing all the setnets and IP on all the ports is needed. This should insure the VDV22 get as much bandwidth as they need and are closest to the outside networks without other devices making changes/routing the packets. Good luck and post your finding.
Vonage VoIP - Need replacement AC adapter that works with 220V/50hz
I just looked on Ebay and it looks like some Vonage adapters can take 240V AC 50 cycle It still needs to plug into the wall with outlets used in other parts of the world. Get a travel voltage adapter search for "foreign voltage adapter" on whatever search you use or Ebay, Newegg, Bestbuy, etc Good luck and please post your results. Thanks
Vonage VoIP - Dialing delay
I am using a Vonage VDV22 and I get like 5 sec dial delay when dialing seven numbers. I know the # trick and it works well. Is there anything I can set so when others use the phone and forget the # at the end that will lower the dial delay? Thanks
Vonage VoIP - Using NAT with cable model
Actually, i JUST got it working. I called Vonage tech support again and this time, the tech support person told me I need to enable Mac Cloning on the Vonage Adaptor. It did not make sense to me, but I did it anyway and it now wotks! If anyone can explain why Mac cloning fixed my problem, I'd be very greatful. Thanks, Kory
Vonage VoIP - Using NAT with cable model
Does your Vonage unit have wired/ethernet ports on it? If it does what is going on is most likely a IP conflict. Unplug the Vonage unit from the Netgear and plug yourself into the Vonage Unit if it does have ethernet ports on it. Do you get a 192.168.1.* IP address (make sure it isn't the same one you had before. If it is you could have a static IP setup on the computer....turn this off if so)? If this is the case you need to change DHCP range on the Vonage Unit for it to work. If you do not get a 192.168.1.x address, but get a 169.x.x.x address this means your not communicating with the Vonage Unit. Try restarting your computer and the Vonage Unit in this case. If neither happens you need to DMZ the Vonage Unit, and make sure you turn off any enabled settings on your router involving SIP. If you don't know how to do these consult Netgear and or the manual for the Netgear Router.
