Vonage VoIP - Web-based utility direct connection - power cycles off
You are connecting to a LAN port on the WRTP54G, right? You can also access the setup page from a wireless connection.
Vonage VoIP - AT&T buying...
AT&T buying Vonage, any truth to this rumor? (I heard they are just waiting for all lawsuits to be settled)
Vonage VoIP - Vonage, Verizon Settle Patent Lawsuit
I heard a rumor that AT&T may end up buying Vonage (and I could not be happier since with with AT&T Unity, that would mean free calls from my cell phone to Vonage lines...)
Vonage VoIP - Web-based utility direct connection - power cycles off
I am trying to access my WRTP54G web-based set up utility by directly connecting it to my pc. I am successful, but I login and then the WRTP54G cycles through looking for internet, telephone and then cycles the power off and starts all over again. As a result I loose my local connection and cannot continue with the utility. Eventually it reconnects when the power becomes available. Any ideas on how to make this stop cycling so I can stay connected?
Vonage VoIP - Buying 2 Vonage lines and giving one to a friend. How?
If the box wasn't open before you shouldn't have any problems with the Mac address.
Vonage VoIP - D-Link VWR-VD / Deutsche Telecom / No VOIP access
I have been a successful Vonage user in the US for about 6 months. I travel significantly within Germany and have experienced no VOIP service when connected to the internet. I have consistent access to Deutsche Telecom's latest service, 25MB speed via DSL, speeds fast enough to receive their TV service. Upon boot of the Vonage VWR Router/phone adapter, the power status light blinks two consecutive, then three consecutive, then solid light(s). After about 2 minutes it returns to two consecutive blinks and remains in that state. My set-up: Source Line --> T-Com Speedport 300HS DSL Modem --> T-Com Speedport W 700V router --> PC(s) & Vonage D-Link VWR router/phone adapter. Speedport W 700V Settings: Default gateway: 192.168.2.1 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Wireless access point enabled IP address assigned to Vonage device: 192.168.2.100 Vonage D-Link VWR Settings: Default gateway: 192.168.15.1 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 DHCP enabled Wireless access point disabled I am unable to place the Vonage D-Link VWR in front of the Speedport W 700V router as the Speedport 300HS Modem is somehow synchronising with the Speedport W 700V to authorize access to the internet. The Vonage D-Link VWR device uses one of the hard-wired LAN ports of the Speedport W 700V device. Internet access through the Vonage device via one of it"s LAN ports is not possible. Access to the internet using either a LAN port or wireless access of the Speedport W 700V device works great - lightning fast. I have configured port forwarding (5061 and 5062 UDP) on the Speedport W 700V to point to the Vonage device. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Vonage VoIP - Buying 2 Vonage lines and giving one to a friend. How?
no problem KARL..just make sure to check on the MAC address of the new box you will buy from a retail store, let them check it through the website so that you will not have problems when you register it to your acct..it might belong to someone who has a disconnected acct and worse has a balance on their acct...then call vonage hotline and add another line..
Vonage VoIP - WRTP54G Dropping Phone; Limited Connectivity Every 2 Hours
vonage does not send out linksys routers.so if ever a customer asks for a replacement on their linksys wrt54g,they will receive a motorola vt2542..its a wireless router..so far i haven't heard any issues regarding the vt2542..though it is harder to configure that the linksys, because of its router interface..but i think its better than linksys
Vonage VoIP - Buying 2 Vonage lines and giving one to a friend. How?
Hi kumakuma, Many thanks for clarifying. I think I'll buy another box and give to my friend in the USA. Thanks Karl
Vonage VoIP - Buying 2 Vonage lines and giving one to a friend. How?
this means that if your friend has an active vonage line and also you, you can call each other for free.its an in-network calling.even though your friend is not in the US but still he/she has the phone adapter and has an active line, and most important, the vonage box is hooked up to the internet you can make and receive calls from each other. HOW?..if you already have an acct. you can just buy another device from a retail store and have it activated to your acct., and then add another line for your friend, which is a cheaper and convenient way than opening another acct..plus the additional line has no activation fee and no disconnection fee.and its one month free..you can activate your new device through the vonage website or just simply call the vonage hotline so that they can guide you in how to do it
Vonage VoIP - Buying 2 Vonage lines and giving one to a friend. How?
I read on Vonages website this: 'If you buy two Vonage lines and give one to someone, you can stay in touch for free. Vonage to Vonage Calls are always free, so they never count towards any Vonage rated monthly phone plan.' http://www.vonage.co.uk/features.php?feature=subscriber_to_subscriber Are they saying I should buy 2 Vonage boxes or are they saying I buy an additional line that I can give to someone. If the latter how do I do that? Thanks Karl
Vonage VoIP - Slow Up/Down speeds with WRPT54G and Clearwire Wireless ISP
Folks, I just went to several hours of testing my new WRT54, let me confirm that router is bad. I finally hooked another router in front of it and my download speed went from 250 kb/s to 5050 kb/s. The phone part and the wireless part works fine, it's the ethernet ports that are messed up. I did not want to go through another routher set up with vonage so I had to a solution myself. I actually did not have to buy another router, I used a Netgear Powerline Adapter that had four ethernet connections. Wolfgang
Vonage VoIP - WRTP54G Dropping Phone; Limited Connectivity Every 2 Hours
This is a work around but it does seem to work, as long as you don't care about wireless. Step 1.Disable the wireless portion on the router. That's it. I had all the same problems. Now that I disabled wireless, the problem is gone. What I have read is that this version of the router does not have enough free memory to support the new firmware. So disabling the wireless frees up memory for the new firmware. I have been running trouble free for over a month now. Hope it helps.
Vonage VoIP - Slow Up/Down speeds with WRPT54G and Clearwire Wireless ISP
Wish I knew that before. I cancelled the ClearWire service and stayed with TimeWarner. Whenever Clearwire gets VOIP service in my area, I'll be switching to Clearwire again. I can't stand Vonage. I hate their customer service, or lack thereof. Thanks anyway.
Vonage VoIP - Incoming voice issues with DLink DIR-655 router?
set the WAN IP of the vonage to static.and do a port forwarding on the dlink.thats 10000-20000 UDP protocol and 5060-5061 UDP protocol..or if not set it to DMZ..this will open ports for your vonage and will not filter those voice..
Vonage VoIP - Slow Up/Down speeds with WRPT54G and Clearwire Wireless ISP
connect your vonage to the clearwire modem.wireless internet do not work that good with vonage..but here is the thing.when you connect vonage to your clearwire.give clearwire a call.tell them that you want to open the SIP ports on their part.i think they will do that on your modem.its 5060-5061 SIP protocol, and 10000-20000 RTP.
Vonage VoIP - Disconnecting Verizon
Pull it off the punch block one wire at a time, or as a minimum, "snip" one wire at a time. DO NOT cut through the wire completely as one "snip", or else you could end up shorting several wires in the cable together and that may cause problems for your connection. Once the incoming Verizon end is off the punch block, pull any remaining strands of wire off the block. You can use simple pliars to do that, just pull the wire straight back from the terminal without pulling at an angle and it should come right out cleanly. Do all this with your Vonage box disconnected from your house wiring.
Vonage VoIP - Pix 501 w/ linksys wrtp54g; phone not working
Thanks for the posts. The trick of running a connection from the WRTP54G LAN port to its own WAN port is something that we pass on to folks from time to time. You might be interested in the writings of Nate Hoy, here. In particular, his discussion of Option 3 under putting a router in front of a Vonage router is similar to what you're discussing. Lots of other good information there too.
Vonage VoIP - Just play the dang messages!
Thanks for posting this. I already know who and when the call, it is on my caller ID so I no have it set up to just play the message.
Vonage VoIP - Disappointed in customer support
So my Vtech base craps out on me after a thunderstorm and I call tech support. They tell me it's the AC adapter and they'll send me a new one in two days. Two weeks later, no AC adapter and no phone service, obviously. They apologize for the mistake (which they ALWAYS do, and it's annoying, less apologies and more action please), and tell me to buy a new AC adapter and I'll get a $10 credit (it cost me $16). AC adapter wasn't the problem. Now, they're telling me to buy a new phone system and I'll get a $40.00 credit. The phone system costs $100. So, the Vtech base craps out on me, and the Vonage people expect me to eat $76 + the cost of two weeks of phone service + the 3 hours it took for these people to arrive at these garbage conclusions I could've given them 2 weeks ago. I have the $15 plan, so these costs wind up being more than 4 months of service. I find it hard to believe that a product manufactured SOLELY for vonage is not kept in any significant inventory at one of their facilities anywhere, especially given how often I hear these things break down. I can't even BUY a replacement through the website without jumping through hoops and over hurdles. Before I cancel my service this week I was wondering if anyone knows where I can buy just the Vtech base station without the handsets?
