Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

September 15, 2005

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.

Today, we'll look at a Time Magazine article that describes how Vonage's success has surprised older phone companies. We'll check in on a famous pro football player as he does promotional work for Vonage in Kansas City. We'll learn about an award being given to a company in large part because it is working with Vonage on Internet service over a fixed wireless broadband wireless connections.  We'll read a Vonage VoIP Forum thread in which readers debate whether better to have cable or DSL as your broadband service provider that you will use with your Vonage service, and also check in on a lively discussion about a particular brand of wireless cable modem that a Forum Member is thinking about using with his Vonage phone.

Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

September 14, 2005

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.

First, some exciting news. Early this morning (or was that late last night?) at precisely 12:52 a.m., we got our 12 millionth page view since we started the Forum back on March, 2003. Considering that we "only" got our 11 millionth page view on August 15, that means our site visitors have read more than one million of our pages in the last month alone. Not bad, considering I know that some of you folks were by the beach over Labor Day!

Say, 12 million is a nice round number. I even made a screen capture of our page view counter as we hit that magic mark. Here it is:

OK, let's see what's up for today. We'll get the latest on Vonage's online ad spending for August, and how that compares with the spending of other ads you may notice online. We'll look at what Vonage will be doing today to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. We'll read Vonage VoIP Forum threads on a Vonage adapter light that won't go out and a Vonage router that won't connect.

We'll hear about a product Vonage is adding to its network that will increase its network capacity. We'll read new Vonage VoIP Forum threads from one user who was having trouble getting Vonage to work with his own Web site he was hosting on his server, as well as a thread from a parent who is very glad today that they have Vonage service.

Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

September 12, 2005

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.  While the calendar still says it is summer, it is starting to feel a lot like fall around here - and perhaps you are as well.

Today we will hear about how a New Orleans official in the middle of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts set up his office to communicate with Vonage- while all other forms of phone communication were knocked out. We'll read part of a new Business Week article just this morning about what at least one expert considers about Vonage going public and offering stock for sale. We'll get perspective from a key Vonage tech exec about why the company is quite excited about WiFi phones. We'll read new Vonage VoIP Forum threads on how to install the VTech IP 8100 and how to get rid of those annoying stutter tones that tell you if you have voice mail. And finally, in our regular Monday feature, we'll meet our Vonage VoIP Forum Member of the Week. You may not be surprised who it is.

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest. Today we will look at all this talk that Skype may be putting itself up for sale, and what that might or might not mean for Vonage. In our popular Friday In the Blogs feature, we review what some of the VoIP bloggers we read regularly have written about this week. Finally, we'll look at a new Vonage VoIP Forum thread from someone who is moving and wants to be sure when in that process he should notify his current phone company that he wants to switch over his phone number to a Vonage number. Finally, we'll tell you about a thread in which one of our most helpful Vonage Forum members is asking other Forum Members to help him out with a short test.

Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

September 8, 2005

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest. Lots of news today, so let's get busy. As the U.S. gears up to find new homes for the victims of flooding caused by Hurricane Katrina, we'll read some newly released info on how much Vonage traffic declined from normal level in the days after the storm. We'll read Vonage CEO Jeffrey Citron's suggestions to the U.S. Congress about what they can do to upgrade the E911 system in the U.S.- making E911 over Vonage that much simpler to implement and maintain. We'll catch up on an award Vonage has won. We'll get one expert's take on just how and why those Vonage ads are special. We'll look at a Vonage VoIP Forum thread about how to get a second phone to work with a new Vonage connection, and what that pulsating dial tone means when you pick up your Vonage-connected phone.

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest. After three days off with the family for the U.S. Labor Day  holiday, it is good to be back. Given the tragic events related to Hurricane Katrina, I wish that all families could be happily together as we all are. In that frame of mind, we'll lead with a story about how someone I know very well has been helping out in New Orleans. We'll look at Vonage VoIP Forum threads from users with echo and radio interference problems. And finally, we'll introduce you to our newest Vonage VoIP Forum Member of the Week.

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.

Lots to talk about today, so let's get busy and  review what's in store for you in today's Digest.  With Louisiana and Mississippi still recovering from the terrible effects of Hurricane Katrina, we'll look at what Vonage is doing to help. We'll bring you up to speed on a Vonage contest that ends tomorrow. We'll also tell you about yet another new major retail where you'll be able to purchase the Vonage equipment you'll need. We'll also review a new Vonage VoIP Forum thread about how a new Vonage Forum Member was able to hook up his new Vonage service at home with some help from other Forum Members, and a thread describing how one Forum Member fixed his Vonage voice mail when it wasn't working properly.
