Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

January 20, 2006

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.

In the news, we'll tell you about Vonage and how they make billions of "impressions." And today being Friday it is time for our In The Blogs feature here we call attention to what the bloggers we read regularly are writing about Vonage. We'll also point you to an interesting Vonage Forum thread about packets, which on Vonage are bits and bytes that contain your voice, as well as that of the persons or people you are speaking to over your Vonage connection.

Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

January 19, 2006

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest. Today we have news of Vonage's ever-expanding E911 coverage, including some major U.S. metropolitan areas and cities. We'll bring you results of a poll in which a majority of respondents said they wouldn't look too kindly on phone company Internet broadband providers imposing surcharges on companies such as Vonage. We'll also point you to Vonage Forum threads about Vonage SoftPhone plans and software, as well as from a prospective Vonage customer who is looking for information and recommendations for routers and adapters he would use with his Vonage service.

Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

January 18, 2006

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest. Today we have news in which Vonage's CEO says Vonage is working "at a breakneck pace" to establish national E911. We also have a news item where we introduce you to the new coordinator of Vonage's tv advertising from the ad agency side of things. We'll also point you to Vonage Forum threads from a happy new Vonage customer whose experiences are quite common, and another thread from, well, "nobody." So, let's get started!

Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

January 17, 2006

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.

In the news, we'll tell you about a big assignment from a major Vonage partner, and note what Vonage's venture capital funding rounds say about the company. We'll also point you to Vonage Forum threads about how to solve the problem of lower phone volume when someone picks up a Vonage extension, and an example of a thread we often see here where a prospective Vonage user is asking other Forum Members about what they think about the quality of Vonage calling in their region. We'll also point you to a "sticky" thread that tells you what information you should provide when you start a thread describing a problem you may be having with your Vonage connection.

Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

January 16, 2006

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.

First, I have some interesting news. On Saturday, we recorded our 60,000th post since we started the Vonage Forum back in March, 2003. Since we only reached 50,000 in late October, 2005, that means that you've made 10,000 posts in the last 2 1/2 months. I think that's great. Keep those posts coming!

As you may have noticed, we've changed our signage a bit. I wanted to make sure that each and every one of you Members and site visitors- and there are many more of you these days- was clear that the Vonage Forum is an independent support site, not part of Vonage. Our new logo reflects that.

In the news, we'll tell you about Vonage's latest market-leading market share among VoIP providers. We'll also point you to Vonage Forum threads in which two of our expert Vonage Forum members authoritatively answer a new Member's concerns, and another thread that points to some articles written by another one of our Members about Vonage-related technical issues that frequently come up as new Vonage Forum Threads and post. And this being Monday, and speaking of helpful Vonage Forum Members - we'll introduce you to our Vonage Forum Member of the Week.

In the news, we'll talk about a new technology alliance that could lead to expanded Vonage services. We'll also cite what Vonage's CEO thinks about the growth of VoIP, and Vonage's role in it. We'll also point you to Vonage VoIP Forum threads about the new (getting Vonage to work with TiVo service over a wireless network), and the old (getting Vonage to work over one of those old-fashioned rotary dial phones).

In the news, we'll read about what should be no surprise to you- where Vonage placed in the weekly count of the number of times their ads have been seen on websites (not including Vonage's own site). We'll also point you to Vonage VoIP Forum threads about adapters, call forwarding, and a (pun intended) "light-hearted" thread about, well, lights!

Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

January 10, 2006

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.

First, I have some major news. Two pieces of news, actually.

Over the weekend, we picked up our 21,000th member here on the Vonage Forum. Our 21,000th member is jpsmith. Welcome to the Vonage Forum, jpsmith! We look forward to reading your posts!

And, as you may have noticed, we've changed our signage a bit. I wanted to make sure that each and every one of you Members and site visitors- and there are many more of you these days- was clear that the Vonage Forum is an independent support site, not part of Vonage. Our new logo reflects that.

In the news, we'll read about what the chairman of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission has to say about any high-speed Internet service providers that are thinking about blocking access to Vonage service. We'll also read that one high-ranking Vonage exec is looking forward to technology that might replace your current cellphone. We'll also tell you how popular Vonage's booth was at the Consumer Electronics Show, which has just ended. Because so many bloggers were at CES on Friday - and some needed time to absorb all they saw before they blogged about it, we are going to run our In the Blogs feature today. That's the feature where we call attention to what the bloggers we read regularly are writing about Vonage.  We'll also point you to a Vonage VoIP Forum thread with a question about router setup.

Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

January 6, 2006

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today’s edition of the Vonage Forum Digest.

First, I have some exciting news. On Thursday at about 4:20 p.m. Eastern Time, we recorded our 16 millionth page view since we started the Forum back on March, 2003. I thank everyone who has ever clicked on a Vonage Forum page. And since you are one of those people,  that means a note of personal thanks directly to you!

We’ll read about what Vonage’s CEO thinks about all this talk on the part of some traditional phone company broadband Internet Service Providers who want to charge Vonage access fees. We’ll tell you how some pretty knowledgeable tech folks are literally lining up to try Vonage’s service. Then, we’ll discuss an interesting, detailed Vonage Forum thread about some problems one Forum Member has been having logging into his Virtual Private Network (VPN) since he’s been using Vonage.
