Vonage Finally Goes Wireless

July 20, 2005

By Staff

In just four days, Vonage will begin selling wireless phones for use with its service – albeit months later than expected – with hardware from only one of its three anticipated vendors ready to roll and not even the promised WiFi-based hardware at that. The VoIP carrier says a 5.8 GHz phone from VTech will be on the shelves at more than 8,000 retailers, and Vonage is touting the widgetry as “the world’s first broadband enabled cordless phone system.”

Sears Point: MJ Motorsports Race Notes

July 19, 2005

By Staff

July 17, 2005. Sonoma, California - MJ Motorsports and Marco Andretti battled the blazing heat and forty other hungry competitors to earn their first podium of the season at Infineon Raceway. Andretti backed up his podium finish with sixth place finish in a double-header weekend that saw him move his Vonage sponsored machine up to fourth place in the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear.

"It has been a lot of hard work this season and we've had more than our share of challenges to overcome so we are happy to have this first podium finish and have Marco move up in the standings," Michael James, Team Principle for MJ Motorsports said. "We still have a lot of racing left this season and are still focused on the championship."

Vonage Contract Moves It Closer to Enhanced 911

July 19, 2005

By John Van

The nation's leading Internet telephony service moved closer to offering a complete emergency calling service Monday, signing an agreement with a vendor experienced in providing enhanced 911 data to public safety officials.

The agreement between phone pioneer Vonage and TeleCommunications Systems Inc. to providing call routing and steering services is an important component in meeting an Internet phone emergency calling requirement enacted by the Federal Communications Commission in May.

"This is a big step in the direction to get enhanced 911 running by the end of the year," said Brooke Schulz, senior vice president for corporate communications at Vonage Holdings Corp.
