Vonage, TowerStream Announce Small Business Partnership

August 3, 2005

By Staff

TowerStream and Vonage announced a partnership Tues. that brings a VoIP Wi-Max hybrid to the small and medium business market, a move that both companies hailed as a major step in their growth. TowerStream, which offers fixed wireless broadband services to business customers, will now be listed as a Vonage value-added-reseller (VAR), a program with which Vonage has had significant success historically. While the companies naturally were enthusiastic about the partnership, several industry experts were hesitant to declare the deal a coup, saying the companies' lack of size, branding, and real technological innovation will keep their growth small.

VoIP provider Vonage and wireless broadband house TowerStream have teamed to offer TowerStream's business customers VoIP service, with the marketing cry being the elimination of any need for traditional local exchange carriers at all. Under the pact, TowerStream will hawk Vonage business VoIP service to the roughly 1,000 companies that buy wireless broadband service from TowerStream - which these days touts it's offering as being "pre-WiMax."

Vonage, TCS Launch VoIP E9-1-1 Public Safety Outreach Campaign

August 2, 2005

By Staff

Vonage, the leading provider of broadband phone service, has joined forces with TeleCommunication Systems (TCS), a leading provider of precise location and wireless data technology, to provide the vital introduction to thousands of Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) throughout the United States.

Beginning in mid-August, Vonage will be sending VoIP Enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1) kits to introduce Vonage's E9-1-1 services to PSAPs nationwide. TCS deployment professionals will follow up within a few weeks of initial contact to collect relevant PSAP data. The program is designed to provide the PSAP community with information regarding Vonage's approach and process for E9-1-1 rollout within the FCC's 120-day deadline, and how the public's safety needs will continue to be met in the interim.
