 Vonage Goes Wireless

Vonage In Print News

January 10, 2006

By Staff

We told you about this back in May, but now it's become reality. Leading VoIP company Vonage will be launching their Wi-Fi phone in the UK. The device will enable broadband telephone calls over home and office wireless networks.

It is designed for use on open wireless networks, though secured home and office networks can be easily set up to recognise automatically when the device is in range. The big selling point is the ease of use - no other equipment is necessary and the phone contains all the software needed for connecting calls over broadband. Turning an internet phone into a cordless phone has got to be a good move commercially.

 Vonage Confirms Sonus Deployment

Vonage In Print News

January 4, 2006

By Ray LaMaistre

A year after VOIP equipment vendor Sonus Networks Inc. was linked with an engagement at voice over broadband pioneer Vonage Holdings Corp., the companies have officially announced their relationship.

Vonage was among a number of service providers linked to new Sonus business a year ago.

Now the deployment is official, though message board gossip that an announcement was imminent had already given the vendor's stock a 10 percent boost on Tuesday.

Vonage Now Provides E911 in Over 1700 Calling Centers

Vonage In Print News

January 3, 2006

By Johanne Torres

New Jersey-based VoIP service provider Vonage Holdings Corp. said on Tuesday it now has E911 service in over 1700 PSAPs across the country. Vonage claims that in just one week, the company equipped an additional 112 calling centers, in over 50 new counties, with 911 calling capabilities.

Today's announcement follows a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) ruling which mandated VoIP service providers to have E911 access up and running by the end of last November.

Panasonic, Vonage Plan Direct-to-Broadband Phone System

Vonage In Print News

January 3, 2006

By Antone Gonsalves

Panasonic Consumer Electronics Co. and Vonage Holdings Corp. are jointly developing a cordless-phone system, configured with the latter's company's Internet telephony service, that would connect directly to a broadband service, the companies said Tuesday.

The system, which would be manufactured by Panasonic, would eliminate the need for a stand-alone adapter used by other voice over Internet protocol systems. The product would target consumers and small businesses, offering a less-expensive service than traditional telephone service, while offering comparable features, the companies said.
