Vonage Names Jamie Haenggi Chief Marketing Officer

Vonage Press Releases

HOLMDEL, N.J., May 8, 2007 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Vonage today named Jamie Haenggi Chief Marketing Officer. In this newly-created position, Haenggi will be responsible for spearheading a more unified marketing approach at Vonage in line with the company's announced strategy of improving its competitive position in the marketplace.

Haenggi joined Vonage in November 2006 as Vice President of Customer Life from ADT Security Services, where she was Vice President of Worldwide Marketing. Prior to that, she served as head of marketing and acquisition integration at Holmes Protection. Before Holmes Protection, Haenggi was the Director of National Guardian's International Division where she was responsible for contract negotiations, sales and marketing, and setting up international distributors in Southeast Asia and providing sales and technical/installation training. As Chief Marketing Officer at Vonage, Haenggi will oversee Marketing, Retail Sales, and Corporate Communications.

Vonage Files Motion to Vacate and Remand District Court Decision in Light of U.S. Supreme Court's Landmark Patent Decision

Vonage Press ReleasesVerizon Patent Case Should be Retried Using High Court's New Standard for Obviousness

HOLMDEL, N.J., May 1, 2007 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Vonage today asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington D.C. to vacate and remand the U.S. District Court's decision finding Vonage infringed on certain Verizon technology. Vonage has asked the appeals court to send the decision back to the lower court to retry the case based on the new test for determining when an invention is too obvious to warrant patent protection. The U.S. Supreme Court unanimously adopted this new test yesterday in the KSR v. Teleflex case.

Vonage praised the high court's decision, which held that the obviousness question should not be determined in a narrow, rigid manner that denies common knowledge, but rather should incorporate a more expansive and flexible approach that allows for consideration of common sense when assessing whether an invention is ordinary or obvious, and thus ineligible for patent protection. Vonage is confident this ruling should have a positive impact on its case. Vonage has consistently maintained it does not infringe on Verizon's technology, asserting in its brief today that the validity of Verizon's name translation ('574 and '711) and wireless ('880) patents should be retried by the U.S. District Court in light of the U.S. Supreme Court's April 30, 2007 decision.

Innovative 'Vonage Text' Service Launched Today

Vonage Press ReleasesUsers Can Read Voicemails Anywhere, Anytime

HOLMDEL, N.J., April 25, 2007 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Vonage today became the first major U.S. service provider to offer consumers the convenience of reading their voicemails anywhere, anytime they want, through Vonage Text, a service which automatically transcribes voicemails to text so customers can read them right from their e-mail.

With Vonage Text, customers can easily read, store, search, and respond to their voicemail messages on their phone, laptop or mobile device -- whenever, wherever and however they choose. This allows users to scan new messages to see which are urgent, and prioritize their responses. Customers can also search for specific information within e-mail messages.

"Being able to read voicemails while on the go has been a huge advantage for me, and I'm confident our customers will appreciate the newest innovative, time-saving feature to be offered by Vonage," said Jeffrey Citron, Chairman, Chief Strategist and Interim CEO of Vonage. "I don't have to write down important messages -- it's already been done -- and I don't have to strain to hear messages in crowded places like restaurants or airports."

Vonage Defends Consumers' Right To Choose Phone Service

Vonage Press Releases

HOLMDEL, N.J., April 25, 2007 /PRNewswire via COMTEX News Network/ -- Vonage today launched a national grassroots communications campaign to educate and mobilize consumers about preserving the freedom to choose their phone service provider. The campaign, called "Free to Compete," will raise awareness of the importance of consumer choice.

Recently, Verizon has pursued litigation against Vonage in an effort to achieve in court what it cannot achieve in the marketplace.

"We want to highlight the choice that Vonage offers to the public: a choice to receive great phone service at a great price," said Jeffrey Citron, Vonage's chairman, chief strategist and interim chief executive officer. "We think this issue warrants national attention because when competition is stifled, consumers literally pay the price. Vonage is the target today, but what other innovative companies might be next?"

Vonage estimates it may have saved consumers hundreds of millions on local and long distance service. Its digital phone service lets consumers communicate "when, where and how they choose." Vonage today has 2.4 million subscriber lines, while Verizon has just 15,000 retail VoIP customers, according to court filings.

Vonage Wins Permanent Stay in Verizon Patent Litigation

Vonage Press ReleasesCompany Will Conduct Business As Usual; Continues Adding New Customers and Serving Existing Ones

HOLMDEL, N.J., April 24, 2007 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington D.C. today issued Vonage a permanent stay of a previous court's injunction that would have barred it from signing up new customers. Vonage sought the stay following an April 6th decision by the U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Va. enjoining the company from using certain VoIP technology to add new customers. The permanent stay enables Vonage to add new customers as we pursue our appeal. Existing customers remain unaffected by the company's ongoing patent litigation.

"We thank the appellate court for its thoughtful consideration of the merits of our case," said Jeffrey Citron, Vonage chairman and interim chief executive officer. "It's business as usual for us. We will continue providing reliable, quality digital phone service at the best value in the market and connecting thousands of phone calls every day. We remain focused on growing and strengthening our business and driving toward profitability."

Appellate Court Grants Stay, Vonage Continues to Operate as Usual

Vonage Press Releases

HOLMDEL, N.J., April 9, 2007 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Vonage Holdings Corp. (NYSE: VG), a leading provider of broadband telephone service, today stated that it views the Court of Appeals' granting of a temporary stay on Friday allowing Vonage to continue to add customers as the first step toward resolving this matter in Vonage's favor. The stay will remain effective while the Appellate Court considers making the stay permanent.

Vonage will continue to provide digital telephone service to existing customers indefinitely by paying into escrow a quarterly royalty of 5.5% throughout the appeals process. Separately, the District Court required Vonage to post a bond of $66 million to secure Verizon's damages judgment.

Vonage is pleased that existing customers will not experience any interruption in service. The Company continues to believe it will succeed on appeal and continues to work on designing around the Verizon patents.

Vonage also continues to believe that this case is an attempt to do in the court room what Verizon could not succeed in doing in the marketplace -- which is to put Vonage out of business.

Vonage Receives Temporary Stay In Verizon Patent Litigation, Continues to Sell Service

Vonage Press Releases

HOLMDEL, N.J., April 6, 2007 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Vonage today secured a temporary stay from U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, DC. The stay enables Vonage to continue to sign up new customers until the Appellate court can hear Vonage's request for a permanent stay. The Court's ruling allows Vonage to continue to provide phone service to existing customers.

Earlier today the U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Va. indicated it would enter an injunction against Vonage effective April 12, 2007 in connection with certain Verizon technology on which it was found to be infringing. The Court indicated that Vonage would be barred from acquiring new customers during its appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C. In response, Vonage filed for and received an emergency stay of the injunction from the Federal Circuit.
