that is my next step. although, i'm a bit skeptical to do it b/c my neighbor had the same problems & and is a little reluctant to unplug his Vonage router in fear of losing his connection once again. my neighbor has come over to help troubleshoot as well, applying the same techniques he used to get his Vonage service to work-no luck. i've just spent another 3hrs with vonage tech support, bless his heart, without resolution. apparently, it's a matter the dsl modem authenticating the vonage router. so our next step is to conference call the ISP tomorrow and have them register my vonage router into their system-easier said than done. wish me luck...i'll be sure to update. if this works, maybe this thread can help the next poor soul residing in Japan from having the same problems i've had.
