Vonage ok, my current network set up is cable modem straight to the linksys wireless B.
ok, my current network set up is cable modem straight to the linksys wireless B. 2 wired comps, and 1 wireless, currently have DHCP running 192.168.1.x, and MAC filtering for security purposes. My question is, Ill be receiving my Vonage devices this weekend and need some assistance on figuring out what the best setup to get good voice quality, and most secure(for my PC's). the way i was thinking was
cable->VT2442(DHCP)->VT2442(noDHCP)->LinksysB(DHCP w/all my current configurations)
would that work, and need help if i do need static routing or any type of port forwarding on which router to set up. basically im pretty sure if i put the linksys first and add the MACs of the VT's it would work, but i have heard of issues of the firewall blocking the packets coming back in (hence, no inbound audio).
On a side note I have 2 VT2442's, because I have 2 different accounts with Vonage, n thought about purchasing the wrt54g and replacing that with the LinksysB, but I would still have 2 routers then.
I need to know -
1 - if there is a better way to set this up
2 - if i need any type of static addressing, on which router should i put it on
3 - which way can i get the best voice quality while at the same time having good security for my PC's
sorry for the long post, just wanted to make sure i explained everything well and really want to map out the setup before my equipment comes otherwise my weekend will be in a debauchery. I appreciate any feedback I get.
