ok, mjstraw is incorrect you can connect the VTA directly to any modem if you would like, i am not sure why you would not just invest in a 50 dollar router and hook up everything at once for convenience' steve48 is correct with the IP..but the only way that you can get in to the VTA is to set a static IP address on your pc on IP: 192.168.15.2 Sub: 255.255.255.0 DG: 192.168.15.254 the username for the UA is user and the password is user..not sure what logging in to the device is going to do for you though unless you want to set a static IP of your computer in to your device..if you connect the VTA to the cable modem and powercycle both device the VTA should get an IP address from the modem (which means that the power light will be blinking 3 or more times and then pause)if it does not the push in the reset button on the back of the device with the tip of a pen for 20 seconds and then let it reset itself, if that does not work you could try to put the IP, Sub, and DG of your PC that it gets when direct to the modem in to the VTA and then move back and forth good luck
