Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

February 9, 2006

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.

Obviously, the big news of the day is Vonage's announcement they are going to become a publicly traded company. Given this news, I thought it would be very useful for me to point out the language you see when you visit our Vonage Forum Home Page:

"This Site is exclusively owned and operated by 4Sight Media LLC and is no way endorsed, sponsored, provided, owned or otherwise controlled by Vonage. For official information on Vonage Services please proceed to the Vonage website at: Vonage the Broadband Phone Company"

Additionally, there is a new CEO running the company on a day-to-day basis. We'll also go over interesting Vonage VoIP Forum threads about temperamental cordless phones and blinking routers.

Vonage(R) Now Provides Emergency 911 Service in Over 2500 Calling Centers

Vonage Press ReleasesVonage and PSAPs Continue Working Together to Turn Up E911 for Customers Across the Nation in Record Time

HOLMDEL, N.J., Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Vonage Marketing, a subsidiary of Vonage Holdings Corp., a leading provider of broadband phone service, today announced that it has turned on emergency 911 service in over 2,500 PSAPs across the country. In less than one week, Vonage equipped an additional 125 calling centers, in close to 40 new counties, with 911 capabilities.

In June, the FCC gave Vonage, and all Internet-based phone service companies, 120 days to create an E911 system from scratch, and provide all of its customers, wherever they are in the U.S., with E911 service. In that amount of time, Vonage worked closely with local 911 centers, also known as Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs), across the country to turn on E911 for as many customers as it could.

Vonage Now Offers 361 Area Code Links

Vonage In Print News

February 4, 2006

By Nick Nelson

Internet phone company Vonage is now offering its service in the 361 area code.

Until now, Vonage customers in the Corpus Christi area had to use out-of-town area codes. Those area codes didn't cost Vonage users extra because they don't pay long-distance fees. But calling a Vonage customer meant calling long-distance, even for a next-door neighbor.

 Reviewing Vonage & VTech VOIP

Vonage In Print News

February 7, 2006

By Greg Gazin

VOIP, or Voice Over Internet Protocol, the ability to have your phone calls transmitted over the Internet instead of through a traditional phone system is gaining in popularity as the technology evolves and broadband or high-speed Internet access becomes so readily available.

Realistically, to configure a Broadband Telephone System you need some basic technical knowledge. One VOIP provider, Vonage Canada www.vonage.ca designed a simple solution so you don't need to be a total geek to get a dial tone. Teaming up with phone-maker VTech they created an all-in-one-box solution- the VTech IP 8100-2 Broadband Cordless phone system. (MSRP $200, with $65 credit after 2 months of service)
