As bandwidth needs grow, telephone, cable companies will look for more revenue

Vonage In Print News

February 2, 2006

By Peter Wilson

The urge to e-mail will be surpassed by the surge to search in 2006 as Canadians become increasingly overwhelmed by the amount of information on everything from their hard drives to the Internet to their iPods.

Call it Googlemania, that's what consultant firm Deloitte does in a list of the top 10 tech trends for 2006, released Thursday, which sees e-mail being outstripped by search functions as the most-used digital application.

Internet Ushering In Future Of Phone Service

Vonage In Print News

February 2, 2006

By Keith Schiehl

Anyone who has surfed the Web in the last few months has been hit by a barrage of banner ads telling you to fire your phone company and join the VoIP revolution. The primary player in the revolution is Vonage, and they appear everywhere on the Web.

The first question most people ask is "What is VoIP?" (pronounced voy'p).

VoIP is short for Voice over Internet Protocol. The service uses your existing high-speed Internet connection to transmit and receive telephone calls across the Internet, using digital data packets rather than analog signals.

Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

February 1, 2006

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.

First, I have some really good news. On Monday evening about 8:25 p.m., we picked up our 17 millionth page view since we started the Vonage Forum nearly three years ago back in March, 2003. Because we hit 16 million page views back on January 5, that means that we accumulated one million page views in less than a month!- 26 days, as a matter of fact! Every time you click on a new page here on the Vonage Forum, that's one page view.

I wasn't able to capture a screen grab of our Page View counter when we hit that 17 million mark, but I did manage to take a screen shot when we hit 17,000, 001. Here it is!

Now, it is time for us to get to one of the reasons for all those page views: to catch up on Vonage news as well as what you have been reading and talking about in the Vonage VoIP Forum. In the news, we'll catch up on Vonage's market share, learn about a major U.S. metro that's just received Vonage local number capability, and a big promotion for prospective Vonage subscribers in Canada. We'll also point you to Vonage Forum threads about power interruptions and router setup.
