Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.
Busy day today with lots of news, so let's get started.
In the news, we'll catch up with Vonage's stock price,
a new decision from the Federal Communications Commission and how that might
affect your Vonage bill, what Vonage says about their current financial
performance and future, as well as a surprising development about Vonage's
online advertising that I didn't really expect. We'll also go over a newly posted Vonage Forum thread
about the Vonage VTech phone, and another about bandwidth availability issues
and how they may or may not be affected by Vonage service.

New USF Tax Results In Minimal Cost Increase for VoIP Customers |
|
 HOLMDEL, N.J., June 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Today the FCC voted to include
all Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services under its new interim Universal
Service rules. VoIP customers regardless of provider will soon be obligated to
pay the Universal Service Fund (USF) tax directly. However, due to the
elimination of Federal Excise Tax (FET) from VoIP services the new USF tax will
result in a net slightly higher customer bill. Vonage is assessing which method
of contribution will be most beneficial for its customers."Vonage fully supports its obligations to government programs. Last month the
Treasury advised us to cease collecting FET, to the benefit of customers, and
now we must begin to collect USF tax, balancing the scales," said Mike Snyder,
CEO, Vonage Holdings Corp. "Now that VoIP customers will be contributing
directly to the fund, we hope as a result of this interim rule, VoIP companies
will now be able to utilize universal service funds enabling Vonage and the
industry as a whole to bring new technologies like ours to rural America."

Vonage Names Craig A. Streem Senior Vice President of Investor Relations |
|

HOLMDEL, N.J., June 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Vonage America Inc., a
subsidiary of Vonage Holdings Corp., a leading provider of
broadband telephone services, today announced that Craig A. Streem has been
appointed Senior Vice President of Investor Relations. Craig will report to
Vonage CEO Mike Snyder. Craig comes to Vonage from AON Corp., the world's No. 2 insurance broker,
where he served as vice president of investor relations since 2004. Streem
has over 25 years of experience leading investor relations efforts and
communications strategies for various world leading organizations including

Vonage Acknowledges Lawsuit From Verizon |
|
|
HOLMDEL, N.J., June 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Vonage Holdings Corp., a leading provider of
broadband telephone services announced today that it has been served with a
patent infringement lawsuit, along with its wholly owned subsidiary, Vonage
America, Inc., filed by Verizon Services Corp. and Verizon Laboratories, Inc.
relating to voice over the internet (VoIP) technology. As a leading developer of VoIP technology, Vonage respects the valid
intellectual property rights of others. Vonage believes that its services have
been developed with its own proprietary technology and technology licensed from
third parties and intends to vigorously defend the lawsuit. Vonage has not
previously been notified by Verizon regarding the seven patents identified in
the lawsuit and has engaged its outside intellectual property counsel to
investigate the matter.
