Vonage Selects Aladdin eToken to Enhance Data Security for its Employees

Vonage Press Releases

CHICAGO, May 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aladdin Knowledge Systems , the leader in Software DRM, identity management, and content security solutions, today announced that Vonage Network Inc., a subsidiary of Vonage Holdings Corp., a leading provider of broadband telephone services, has selected Aladdin's eToken NG-OTP user authentication solution to provide its employees with enhanced mobile PC and file security.

The Aladdin eToken, which is about the size of an average house key, is easy to use and highly portable, providing users with powerful authentication by requiring something they have, the tamper-proof eToken, and something they know, a password. Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest. In the news, we'll catch up on a rise in Vonage's stock price, as well as some interesting viewpoints from a veteran technologist that doesn't sound too surprised about that. We'll see just how close a Vonage co-sponsored race car came to winning the Indy 500, and also . We'll also go over Vonage VoIP Forum threads on Vonage service over satellite Internet, and adding a second Vonage line. And because we didn't have an issue Monday on account of Memorial Day here in the U.S., we'll announce our Vonage Forum Member of the Week today.

Vonage Applauds The U.S. Treasury Department for Abolishing the Federal Excise Tax on Long-Distance Phone Calls

Vonage Press ReleasesTreasury Department Disconnects FET and VOIP

HOLMDEL, N.J., May 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Vonage America Inc., a leading provider of broadband telephone services, today applauded the Treasury Department for ending the decades-old Federal Excise Tax (FET) on long distance phone service.

The company's interpretation of the ruling is that it also applies to voice over IP services such as Vonage's and in accordance with the ruling, the company intends to stop collecting the 3% fee and aid customers in applying for their refunds.

"This ruling is good news for everyone who believes in open and low-cost communications," said President of Vonage America Inc., Michael Tribolet. "FET was originally imposed as a luxury tax to fund the Spanish-American War over 100 years ago. In the era of flat-rate service packages and bundles, Vonage customers shouldn't be subject to this tax and we commend the Treasury Department for freeing our customers from it."

Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

May 26, 2006

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.

First, I have a couple of announcements. First, the Vonage Stock Forum is now open for everyone to read. You may know that I started the Vonage Stock Forum because of the Vonage IPO and then the start of Vonage trading on the New York Stock Exchange. For the first few days, the Vonage Stock Forum was accessible only to registered Vonage Forum Members. Now, I've decided to open it to everyone. So here's the link to the Vonage Stock Forum. But, remember, of course, in order to post you need to be a Vonage Forum Member- just like you need to be in order to post in any other sections of the Forum. So join up!

Second, just before Midnight Eastern time Thursday night, we passed 23 million page views on the Vonage Forum since we started in March, 2003. Obviously the Vonage stock news has given us a lot of page views- more than 70,000 on Wednesday, as a matter of fact. It took us only 16 days to get from 22 million to 23 million page views. That's more tan 60,000 page views a day- counting a couple of weekends when many of us are away from our PCs. That's about 2,500 page views an hour, 45 page views a minute, and sheesh- almost one page view a second! No wonder why I've felt compelled to do these server upgrades

OK, enough about tooting our own horn.

In the news, we'll catch up with how a Vonage-sponsored racing team is looking at a big event this Sunday. We'll also look at Vonage's New York Stock Exchange trading day on Thursday.   Today is Friday, time for our popular In the Blogs feature. We'll also go over a Vonage VoIP Forum thread from a Member with something to say about the quality of his Vonage service.

Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

May 25, 2006

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.

I noticed that a record number of new Members have joined the Vonage Forum in the last couple of days. On Tuesday, we more than doubled our previous one-day record of new Members with 186 new enrollers. Then, yesterday, w picked up 182. I am guessing that many of these Members joined up because of our Vonage Stock Forum- the place to go for news and discussions about Vonage stock- which is now being publicly traded. Unlike all other sections of the Vonage Forum, the Vonage Stock Forum is open to registered Vonage Forum Members only.

Later in this Digest I will tell you how to register. It's free and quick.

But let's get down to the news, and the story of the day. Or the week. Or the month. Or, for that matter, the year. That of course, is the fact that Vonage stock experienced its first day of  being publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange yesterday. We'll also go over a couple of Vonage VoIP Forum threads about router issues, and get this- about using Vonage to call in and cast their vote on last night's season-ending episode of "American Idol."
