HOLMDEL, N.J., Jan 04, 2007 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Vonage Holdings Corp. (NYSE: VG), a leading provider of broadband telephone services, today announced that its interim president of Vonage Network Inc. since June 2006, Tim Smith, has assumed the post on a permanent basis.

As president of Vonage Network Inc., a subsidiary of Vonage Holdings Corp., Tim will oversee all of Vonage's network and systems operations globally and manage the Vonage Network staff.

Before joining Vonage in July 2005 as SVP of Network and Systems Infrastructure, Tim worked in various management roles for leading technology companies including Sun Microsystems Inc., UUNET Technologies Inc. and Wayport, Inc.

"Tim has 20 years of experience designing, deploying, operating and maintaining Internet service delivery systems and I am excited that he will be assuming the permanent role as president of Vonage Network," said Vonage CEO Mike Snyder. (NYSE: VG), a leading Internet telephony provider, today announced that over 93% of its U.S. subscriber lines are now equipped with Enhanced 911 (E911) service -- a feature that automatically associates a physical address with the calling party's telephone number.

Vonage's nomadic E911 solution gives customers the ability to reach a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), or 911 center, through the dedicated 911 network infrastructure. With Vonage's nomadic E911 solution, a customer's call is automatically routed to the appropriate 911 center, with the caller's registered street address and telephone number appearing on the dispatcher screen -- regardless of where or what exchange they are calling from. Vonage will continue to turn up and test new PSAPs that are VoIP-ready every day.

In less than two months, Vonage has equipped over 170 locally-run emergency call centers across the U.S. with E911 -- bringing the total number of calling centers with emergency 911 service to over 6400.
