Vonage's VoIP System Goes The Distance

September 5, 2003

By Vincent A. Randazzese

The promise of low- or no-cost long-distance calling via voice-over-IP has come to fruition with the Vonage Digital Voice service, which allows businesses to replace their traditional long-distance service provider with VoIP without sacrificing an ounce of productivity.

Vonage offers all the bells and whistles expected with normal telephone service, but the solution truly shines when it comes to how much money businesses can actually save.

Cable Datacom News Roundup: Vonage Tops 45,000 VoIP Lines

Vonage In Print News

September 01, 2003

By Staff

Vonage Holdings Corp. said it topped the 40,000 mark for installed broadband VoIP lines in early August. With a run rate of more than 1,500 new lines per week, the company should have finished August with over 45,000 lines. Interestingly, this start-up provider alone now accounts for more installed IP telephony lines than the entire North American cable industry.

Forget the '90s, This is when Fun Begins

Vonage In Print News
By Mark Evans

The way telecom consultant Iain Grant sees it, the distinction between cable and telephone networks will gradually disappear as new technology changes way we access and use different services.

In their place, a new super-network will emerge offering consumers voice, data and video services in new and innovative ways.

"The new network isn't a telephone network, a cable network, a wireless network - it is, simply, a network. Your particular access to the network may be through one or more gateways - but the particular gateway is no longer important. It is access itself that is key," he wrote in a recent report called "It's Not Your Parent's Phone".

Vonage - VoIP Telephone Service

August 29, 2003

By David M. Rowell

Did you know that your internet connection can be used for voice and even video messaging, as well as for web browsing and email?

A new service from Vonage now gives you an internet based telephone rather than a regular phone line based telephone. The internet based telephone has a regular telephone number, and can both place and receive calls to/from ordinary phones, everywhere in the world.

Tech Tools: Vonage Broadband Phone Service

August 19, 2003

By Benjamin A. Hunter

We've all seen the Vonage broadband phone service ads on TV. People bragging about how much money they save using vonage, how clear the calls are, etc. So what's the deal? Is it legit? Two months ago I signed up for Vonage, and the following reflect my experiences with the company.

What is Vonage?
Simply put, Vonage is calls over the internet. $39.99 a month gets you unlimited "local" (local being the home area code you choose for your number) and long distance calling. In other words, you pay $40 a month and pay nothing more for phone calls. $25.99 a month gets you the scaled down plan, which includes unlimited local calls, and 500 minutes of long distance calling.

 Loosen Bell's Iron Grip

Vonage In Print News
August 25, 2003
By Tyler Hamilton

It's been more than a month since the telephone regulator ordered Bell Canada and kin to sell their high-speed Internet services separately from their local phone services.

It was an important decision, the result of a complaint filed by Call-Net Enterprises Inc, the Toronto-based parent of Sprint Canada.
