Vonage Finally Goes Wireless

July 20, 2005

By Staff

In just four days, Vonage will begin selling wireless phones for use with its service – albeit months later than expected – with hardware from only one of its three anticipated vendors ready to roll and not even the promised WiFi-based hardware at that. The VoIP carrier says a 5.8 GHz phone from VTech will be on the shelves at more than 8,000 retailers, and Vonage is touting the widgetry as “the world’s first broadband enabled cordless phone system.”

Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

July 21, 2005

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.

Today, we'll tell you about a voice mail message you may have recently received from Vonage, asking you to go to a Web page and acknowledge that you understand the temporary limitations of Vonage's e911 service. As a matter of fact, we'll even give you a link to the voice mail file itself. We'll tell you about a place where you can see a new Vonage videophone in action- while on vacation with your family. We'll look at a new vendor alliance that will make changing your existing number to Vonage even more efficient and secure a process than it is now. We'll all get a chuckle over a review of Vonage posted on the website of a magazine read by lots of 24 year-old guys who love to date hip women. We'll also look at a Vonage VoIP Forum thread about routers and adapters, as well as a thread in which a new user asks for some basic set-up pointers.
