Vonage® Now Provides Emergency 911 Service in Over 1700 Calling Centers

Vonage Press ReleasesHolmdel, NJ, January 3, 2006 – Vonage Marketing, a subsidiary of Vonage Holdings Corp., a leading provider of broadband phone service, today announced that it now has emergency 911 service in over 1700 PSAPs across the country. In just one week, Vonage equipped an additional 112 calling centers, in over 50 new counties, with 911 calling capabilities.

In June, the FCC gave Vonage, and all Internet-based phone service companies, 120 days to create an E911 system from scratch, and provide all of its customers, wherever they are in the U.S., with E911 service. In that amount of time, Vonage worked closely with local 911 centers, also known as Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs), across the country to turn on E911 for as many customers as it could.

Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

December 29, 2005

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to our special year-end edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.

First of all, I'd like to thank each and every one of you Vonage Forum Members, posters and readers for a great 2005. Here are some highlights from this past year:

We started 2005 with more than 4,650 Members. Just this year, we increased our Member count more than four-fold. As I write this, we are just short of 20,500 Members!

We started 2005 with more than 3,500,000 page views since our beginnings in March, 2003. It looks like we will end the year with more than 15,750,000 page views! That means that more of you are coming to the Forums every day, reading and posting.

And speaking of posting, we're ending the year with more than 10,200 post topics. That's a more than four-times leap from the start of the year, when we had 2,226 posts logged!

Our most active Vonage Forum Member this year has been reebok. Since the year started, up thru this afternoon, reebok has made 2,471 posts this year alone! That's more than six posts a day! The rest of the top five posters, with the number of posts made from January 1 of this year thru this afternoon include Trowski, 1,256; scerruti, 832; VonageTPA, and - in only four months with us - Steve48, with 689! We all look forward to reading many more informative posts from each of you guys- not only the five I mentioned, but thousands of you others!

A great number of posts were questions about new, as well as existing, Vonage products, services, and announcements. So let us review what's been in news about Vonage this year!

 Cool Calls

Vonage In Print News

December 27, 2005

By Joy and Bob Schwabach

Vonage, an Internet phone service, has extended Internet calling to the cell phone world with a pocket-size unit called the UTStarcom F1000. The Vonage phone works by accessing the Internet from Wi-Fi Internet hot spots, which are becoming ubiquitous in cities. We commonly find them in hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, schools, libraries and many office buildings.

The FCC should name an interim pseudo Automated Number Identification (pANI) administrator, Vonage CEO Jeffrey Citron urged Fri. Without an interim administrator, Vonage and other firms have difficulty gaining access to pANI numbers to meet FCC deadlines that they make E-911 available to all customers, the firm said. "Without pANI, we can't get calls from nomadic phones into the traditional E-911 network," Citron said. "We agree with the industry that there needs to be a fair and equitable method of distributing these numbers to telecommunications, wireless and VoIP providers, to enable all of us to get E911 to our customers as quickly as possible."

 Tomorrow's Phones for Yesterday's Cost

Vonage In Print News

December 26, 2005

By David LaGesse

Until now the joy of frugal geeks and early adopters, Internet phoning is finally ready to connect with just plain folks. It's inexpensive, fairly easy to set up, and cuts out the phone companies without forcing you to depend on a fritzy cellphone.

The Internet can bring crystal-clear conversations to your standard telephone for as little as $10 a month plus pennies more per call, or $20 to $25 for unlimited service. Some "voice over Internet protocol" companies even allow international calls free. You also get a bevy of services--like voice mail and three-way calling--that would push the cost of your telecom line to $40 or more. We've tried a variety of the services and have been impressed each time by call quality, including those at vonage.com, voicepulse.com, packet8.net, and broadvoice.com.

 Speed Dial for Santa

Vonage In Print News

December 23, 2005

By Robert McMillan

For little ones who simply have to know what Saint Nick is up to, electronic gadgets offer easy access to a peek at the red-suited one's whereabouts. This year, Web phone service Vonage joins online resources that follow the path of Santa as Christmas nears.

Speed Dial for Santa

Vonage has launched a free Santa Claus tracking service that can be used by its Internet telephony subscribers. Beginning Friday, Vonage customers--or their children--can get updates as to Santa's whereabouts by pressing *101 from any Vonage line.
