Vonage i've done more and more calls to other numbers and other people, and always come

i've done more and more calls to other numbers and other people, and always come up with the same results i've reported in the other thread and here - i never hear a partial ring when dialing out, i always hear a full-length ring tone, and once the ring tone is finished i typically get people saying "hello" for their second or third time or hearing automated messages (like the sprint voicemail one) after it's apparently skipped a couple words or more.

almost seems like instead of the Vonage adapter (rtp300 in this case) dynamically generating the ring tone you hear on outgoing calls, it's playing a pre-recorded sound of ringing, which is why it can't cut it in half to play partial ring. if the connection isn't made yet, play the sound of ringing... after the sound is done, check to see if it's connected... repeat. i would hope that wouldn't be the case (and would like to doubt it could be, since that would make no sense), but it would explain why we never hear a partial ring at all and are always hearing full-length ring tones.

yeah, i get the feeling this is actually happening to more people than realize it. perhaps the people they call answer more slowly, or they might naturally pause for a second before saying "hello". for some reason i call people who answer the phone pretty quickly, so i notice it all the time (for people who just pick up a phone from the base and bring it to their ear and say hello, it might take a second to complete the motion - but people who have cordless phones and wait for second ring for the caller id, they already have the phone right in front of their face when the callerid comes up and they decide to answer, so it takes a split second to click the button and say hello... just a thought).

more people testing would really be appreciated. listen to see if you ever hear a partial ring tone when calling out. call a landline next to you and try to time it such that you pick up the other line in the beginning or middle of a ring you're hearing on your Vonage line. try to call yourself or others and see if the other party answers and says hello before you hear it... ask people you call if they ever say hello twice before you respond.
