Vonage i know it's been mentioned before about people not being able to dial out to some

i know it's been mentioned before about people not being able to dial out to some 800 (or other toll free) numbers, but what i've read has usually been stories of only rarely not getting through while most seem to work.

the last 3-4 days i've tried to dial no less than 6-8 toll free numbers and every one of them has given me the recording about being blocked from my calling area.

newegg (whittier, ca): (800) 390-1119 - luckily they listed a local number (909) 395-9046 that worked.

ups (corporate is listed as atlanta, ga): 800-742-5877 - no alternate "local" number listed

dhl (corporate in florida, call centers in houston and phoenix?): 800-225-5345 - no alternate "local" number listed

dell computers (corporate in roundrock, tx): 800-999-3355 - no alternate "local" number listed

sprint info services (corporate in reston, va): 800-829-0965 - local number given is for corporate affairs not for the info services

hp: 800-474-6836

united airlines: 800-864-8331

continental airlines: 800-523-3273

bank of america: 800-432-1000

and the list goes on and on. almost all companies that have 800 numbers for reservations, information services, national sales/support only have an 800 number. if we can't contact them via this number, then we're SOL. as frustrating as some other issues (like caller id for some folks) are, i fear this is a crippling issue which really affects the core usability of Vonage as a pots replacement and it must be resolved.

Strange. I just now tried the Sprint and UPS numbers and got right through.

I tried all of the posted 800 numbers (slow day at work) and got through to each one.
