Vonage i installed vonage on tuesday, and it seemed to be working fine. when i picked up

i installed Vonage on tuesday, and it seemed to be working fine. when i picked up the phone, i immediately got a dial tone. there were some stutters/drops when using it, but it wasn't that bad.

it's now friday. starting yesterday, when i pick up the phone, the dial tone goes in and out for about 2 1/2 seconds, and then it kicks in with the constant buzz sound (like it should be). it's actually pretty annoying. it also seems that my call quality is worse. the drops in sound are frequent, and it always feels like the call is going to be dropped altogether.

i am using RCN cable internet (10,000 kbps down, 800 kbps up). using Vonage Voip tests, my download rates show low, but using testmy.net and speakeasy, they are around 10,000 kbps.

Below are results from some Vonage speed tests:

(this one is most typical of the results i get)
Download 4,914,336 bps
Upload 764,800 bps
QOS 45%
RTT 69 ms
MaxPause 203 ms

Download 3,802,960 bps
Upload 765,592 bps
QOS 69%
RTT 68 ms
MaxPause 110 ms

(interestingly, this one was done while i was making a support call to Vonage from my Vonage phone - finally decent QoS and MaxPause)
Download 6,498,920 bps
Upload 248,840 bps
QOS 92%
RTT 68 ms
MaxPause 32 ms

(but then again, so was this one)
Download 3,968,232 bps
Upload 249,480 bps
QOS 64%
RTT 67 ms
MaxPause 234 ms

these results look very inconsistent to my eyes. does my ISP just suck? or is it Vonage?

does anybody know the problem with the dial tone?

my QoS is typically in the 40-50% range and MaxPause is typically about 200-210. is this killing me?

any help would be appreciated.

you're looking good. the "problem" with the dial tone is called stutter tone,
reebok, thanks a lot! (for taking the time to answer a stupid question :-D ) i
qos on that speed test isn't a real good indication of anything most people would
