hi, this has something to do with the new firmware on your motorola device. the new firmware now includes a phone line voltage detection. is your vonage device connected to your existing house wiring? if it is it might be that excess voltage or current coming from your previous PSTN connection is still on the house wiring line and this is being detected by the vonage device. this excess voltage or current might give you static on your line or unwanted noise. hope this helps
