Post subject: Vonage (Canada) Questions?
I've been a
Vonage
Canada customer since this summer past. Love it. Would never think of going back to my local telco. I do however, have some questions.
1) Why do they need to charge $12.99 for every virtual number you order? That is quite high. Especially being $8/month for the number alone.
2) Can virtual numbers be routed to my cell? I don't have one but am considering it depending on how flexible they are.
3) Why do they not offer payment options that allow payments directly from my bank account? Cheaper that way for me.
That's it for now. Thanks in advance and have a great Christmas!

Hi..
I can't answer your first question, as I dont' work for
Vonage
, I have no idea why they charge as much as they do, esp when our US friends pay way less..
second, a virtual number will only be forwarded to your main line, you cann't forward it seperately to a cell or other landline.. you can forward you main line and your virtual number will follow..
third, not sure, but why does it cost you more to pay with credit card than bank acct? if you pay your credit card before the 30 day grace period then ther is no interest, and I have never heard of a credit card that charges for # of transactions..

I noticed that too.

Ok, that answers alot. Guess I am not going this route.

The reason I ask is that I don't have a credit card per se, but am using my PayPal credit card. This card only works in US$. Not sure why. I hate loosing extra on converting.

There are other
Voip
carriers that let you route calls based on the number, e.g. you can have all 416- or 647- calls forwarded to your cell phone.
Vonage
should think about adding this functionality. It would be a back-door way to accomplish what you want.
You could also get a second line with the number you want, and forward it on its own.
Vonage
gives a discount for the second line.

Yes, I could, but not interested in paying a $39.99 activation fee. Correct me if I am wrong about that. Does the $19.99/month plan have free incoming calls?
