PostPosted: Thu Dec 15, 2005 4:25 pm    Post subject: How long does it take to get a confirmation from Vonage? Reply with quote Back to top

Hello, I bought a retail Linksys (WRTP54G) and activated it through Vonage website Tuesday. However, I never received a confirmation or welcome email from them.

When I logged into their website, the status was pending.

I called Vonage, some Inidan accent rep picked the phone and said I should receive my adapter in two days, just wait. I told him I bought the box from a retail and has activated it. I don't need another box. He then transferred my call to another guy. The second guy told me the activation process could take two day to five days. They have to match the MAC address to the phone number I provided. It is a long process. I felt he's lying. This could be done automatically in seconds.

How long do you all wait to to get a confirmation or start to use it after you activated your adapter?

Thanks!

After my MAC address was entered into the system it took 2 hours. I would have been less time but the retail router I bought didnt have the MAC address in Vonage system so they had to input it. I dont see why it would take 3-5 days.

Back in July, I activated my Circuit City-purchased WRTP54G online and the process took somewhere between 20 and 30 minutes, if I recall, until everything was fully in-place and my Vonage line worked fully. I never called or talked to anyone. I just threw my credit card number, contact information, and apparently some magic fairy dust at Vonage's "retail activation" site, told them where I wanted my phone number, and "poof"! Email received in like 5 minutes telling me what my number would be, etc.

I think I could make outbound calls on the thing in about 10 minutes.

Maybe their volume has gone way up since then, and it's just taking longer. Did you try to transfer a number or anything? I just had them assign me a number in my local calling area, so THEY gave ME the number, not the other way 'round as your post sort of implies...

Well, looks like you guys had some good luck on the first try.

Yes, I also transfer my current Bellsouth phone number. In the application, they said it could take up to 20 days to transfer the number, but they said they could assign a temporary number first. Since I received nothing from them, they might have lost my activation in the cyber dust after charged $30 to my credit card Smile

Okay, I logged in Linksys, this is what I see under Status-Voice:

-------------------

Provisioning Status: Provisioning failed

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Line1 Status
Registration Status:

Call1 Status: idle

Call2 Status: NA

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Line2 Status
Registration Status:

Call1 Status: idle

Call2 Status: NA

Under Voice, I see:

Please contact your service provider for further information.

Now it is working and I could place phone calls, yep!
Thanks for the replies. Otherwise, I might wait for days as they suggested.

Silly me, I forgot I had unplugged the phone from the router and connected it back to the old phone jack. I was using the old phone line and heard the dial-tune. It never worked on Vonage.

I called them three more times, they really screwed. One guy said I could use it last night, nope. Then I called them this morning, the other guy told me they've expediated it and I should be able to use it by 10:00 AM. Nope. Now it is 12:30 PM, and the account is still pending. I wanted to cancel the whole thing, they said nope, you cannot cancel it. Their system is down, they couldn't pull out my account. I felt so frustrated in dealing with this company. I have enough with them.

Usually if you call and scream really loud and speak in a deep, authorative voice and make plenty of use of the F word and MF word they tend to get your account fixed quickly.
