If I call someone, and say, get their answering machine, I cannot hang up on it. As soon as I hang up, within a second, the phone rings back and its their answering machine back on the line. This happened at least 30 times today with one call. 1 minute to make the call, and 35-40 minutes to get rid of it!

Same thing happened this morning when a telemarketer (machine) called. We hang up, in a second the phone rings and there it is again. Over and over and over. Its enough to make you crazy.

What do I do to correct this?

P.S. I tested the same phone number with a test call from another line, no callback. It is definately a Vonage problem.

I just did some testing and found something.

The problem is when the other end does not disconnect - like a telemarketer, or a voicemailbox.

Then, as soon as I hang up - RING and their back on the line!

I just proved it with a test from another line.
So, if THEY don't hang up, then I can't hang up - EVER.

Power off your phone adapter, then power it back on.

You'll definitely "hang up" that way, and you might just fix the problem. (Does that do it?)

Yes, I tried all that. They also moved me from port 1 to port 2.
Nothing helped.

They are sending a new adapter. We'll see in a few days if that helps.

Also, problem only occurs with my PBX. When I plug in a conventional phone, the MTA hangs up ok.

Did power-cycling the phone adapter disconnect that call?

Vonage sent me a new adapter (rpt300).
That solved all my PBX problems. My panasonic ksu is totally happy with the rtp300.

I waited a week before posting to make sure.
