Can anyone help me? I faxed into Vonage on 3/5/04 my LOA to port my local number to Vonage.
I did not even mind having to pay Vonage AND my local company while this process takes place. On 3/6/04, my landline was dead! No dial tone, no incoming or outgoing calls. I am extremely upset, because what if I need to use 911 during this period? I called SBC and they sent a technician to my home to "fix" the problem. Unfortunately, still no dial tone.
Is SBC "paying me back" for switching away from them?
Has anyone had a similar experience and what can I do to fix this?
Thank you for any help. While I realize that this may not be Vonage's problem, it really makes me reconsider whether I want to bother with this service. |

I doubt that LNP killed your land line, it is only one business day after your faxed the LOA to Vonage. It takes more than that to get the ball rolling on the LNP. You probably have an outage that SBC needs to fix. By the way, what is Vonage showing as the status of your LNP on your account web page? |

It should not be Vonage killing your line then. They have not done anything yet. Vonage now needs to send the LNP request to the local carrier. The local carrier will then schedule your LNP with SBC. You will see all this steps in the status for your LNP. For example here is my LNP from SBC to Vonage:
January 28, 2004 Awaiting Letter of Authorization January 29, 2004 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received January 29, 2004 Transfer Sent to Carrier February 11, 2004 Carrier Approved Transfer February 12, 2004 Completed LNP Transfer |
