I am moving to Mexico, seems like the ISP issue is resolved. But can Vonage work with any ADSL modem if you have a router?

If you are using Vonage in Mexico, please pm me...
Thanks

Generic answer, yes. Vonage will work anywhere the Vonage device can get a clean connection to the Internet, which includes behind most routers unless you have a really restrictive firewall with blocked ports or something.

What other suggestions might you have. I hear there may be a wireless provider in my area. I have recd emails from those who say their DSL is consistent and Vonage works 90% of the time.

Not too bad for those who are short on options.. Dont you think?

Well there is not much of a choice. I see nothing wrong with giving it a try. You could always get rid of Vonage if it does not work correctly and get telemex Wink

Nope, not bad at all, since as you say, your options will be limited. And the best source of information is likely to be those who are already down there and using & living with the broadband access and trying to use Vonage. After all, the rest of us here are just speculating.

IF the internet access is good, then your Vonage will work as well there as it does here in the States. Just realize that if it doesn't work, or works and then suddenly stops working, you're unlikely to get any help from Vonage, since they don't officially support your service from Mexico.

Good luck!

I live in Mexico City and have Prodigy Infinitum and my DSL provided by Telmex. There is also a broadband alternative over microwave supplied by one of the "Cablevision" suppliers (Multivision) Through RadioShack Mexico, there is a Voip solution provided by a IUSACEL (cellphones) affiliate with prices somewhat higher than Vonage but with local telephone numbers and virtual numbers in the US.

If you are not moving to Mexico City but one of the larger cities in the country, there is MegaCable (Guadalajara and Leon among others) and Cablevison (in Monterrey) as broadband ISPs.

Good luck

I have 512/128. Telmex (Prodigy) charges based on speed. I've attached the Web site explaining their plans. It's all in Spanish but should be more or less clear. $1.00 USD =$10.7587 MXN is the latest exchange rate. Hope this helps.
