We just got Vonage about a month ago, and ever since then we will get calls from "Anonymous" where when we answer it immediately hangs up.
This started as soon as we got Vonage, so I'm not sure if its a prankster, or some technical problem.
Anyone have any ideas? |

Telemarketers use automated dialing systems that are designed to keep the operators busy. In order to do this they dial multiple numbers simultaneously whenever an operator is available. The first person to answer is the lucky one who gets to talk with an operator. The rest simply get disconnected.
For more information you can read about it here.
The best way to reduce these unwanted calls is to put your number on the national Do Not Call registry at DoNotCall.gov. Until Vonage implements anonymous call rejection you will not be able to totally eliminate these calls, but until then this is your best way to reduce them. |

Hmmm... strange. I had registered for do-not-call when I was with my other provider, maybe because I switched providers I have to re-register even though I still have the same phone number. |

No you do not need to reregister, but is it possible that you are getting called on an old virtual number?
You can verify that your number is on the Do Not Call list at the http://donotcall.gov website. |
