I have a 3Com 56k External Voice Faxmodem Pro and a Vtech cordless phone connected to my Motorola ATA.
I am running some software on my PC called Identafone Pro, which uses the modem to capture the CallerID of incoming calls, send a text message to my cell phone with the info (so I know someone called if i'm out and they don't leave a message). Most of all, it will auto answer Private and Out-Of-Area calls and play a reject message.
My problem is that the CID info that is picked up by the modem mostly comes through as garbage while displaying perfectly on the Vtech phone.
I had a Cisco ATA which worked perfectly. However, it was inserting a single " mark at the beginning of all names on the incoming CID. After days of working with tech support at Vonage, they could'nt figure out the problem so they swapped the unit with a Motorola ATA.
I have swapped phone cables and removed the splitter to see if something was causing interference. It just seems to be the modem that has an issue. I can connect the modem back to my regular landline and it has no problem.
Any ideas??? |

Sorry, I have no solution to your problem - just wanted to let you know I run the same software and have no problems. I have my Motorola ATA powering my whole house (about 10 devices - phones, CID boxes, ReplayTV, fax machine and modem). Maybe try a different modem -mine is a cheap $20 AOpen FM56-SLM - bought it for the sole purpose of running the Identafone software (yes, it supports TAPI mode).
Good luck, Mike. |
