The problem as I understand it...
When he dials his phone number (which is assigned at the present time to both
Vonage
and his SBC lines) from a
Vonage
phone, it rings on the
Vonage
line. When he dials the same phone number from a non-Vonage phone he gets his original SBC line and the call is answered by SBC voicemail.
This is normal when the same phone number is assigned to both services.
Vonage
will ring within its own system a number that
Vonage
has assigned. The POTS system will ring the old SBC line. This will resolve itself when SBC ports his old number to
Vonage
.
In the meantime, one solution if you have call forwarding on the SBC line is to forward all calls to the temp
Vonage
number you were assigned at sign-up. The only way you can ring your
Vonage
line from a non-Vonage line before porting is to be called at the temp number.

I still think its a BUG with
Vonage
and Number Portability and someone need to fix it.
Trust me I do this for Living.
