Dear Damras,
When you go to a friend house to try out your adapter do connect it on your friend router, talk to customer service on your friend telephone line, and then ask customer service if they can detect your phone adapter and if they do, can they upload or adjust any setting on your system. Please make sure they access your phone adapter and not your friend.
Good luck

Thanks for the suggestions bmardini
I did take the unit to my friends place. His Telephone adaptor is also a Motorola unit. Only difference is mine was a DSL and his was a leased line. So I had configured my unit exactly as his and had connected and tried. It was the same story. It goes
through the booting process, gets the IP address, gets the
configuration 1136383315880/my account number, then it keeps on giving four blinks and never becomes steady nor get a dial tone. When I replace it with my friend's Motorola VT 1000 back, his unit works well.
I have called the help desk from his line. It appears that it is a call center. He asked me the details. I had informed all that. Later he says the line is not very clear and he would call. I gave my friends
vonage
number. I waited for an hour but did not receive any call back from them as usual. I thought he was buying time to analyse and then would come back but never did.

Now take his and try to run it in your place,
if it works,
then the settings on your adaptor does not go along with what QTel did to us. The setting I am reffering to can only be changed by
Vonage
. The second option, buy a new adaptor, RTP300 and try.
If it does not,
then your QTel line is chocked and nothing you can do.

We need to get more visibility on the fact that for most people
vonage
is not working. I have written to the US Ambassador. With everyone coming back after the holidays, I think more people should re-start the campaign to get this fixed and the US Ambassador is out best bet.

Post subject: email to the american embassy or sign the petition
Only 70 people signed the petition. We are many more the victims of Qtel policy. Just make sure that you ask anyone that you communicate with him to sign the petition and email the ambassador

I received atlast a mail from
vonage
customer support tier 2 that settings for my telephone adaptor have been changed. Since I had left the unit at my friends place I had asked him to check and confirm. He did confirm that the unit is working. I brought it back and connected and the unit is working.
Thanks for the advise and all the help especially to bmardini, ahmed and others. The one to ask
vonage
to change the settings or configuration file had atlast worked out (I persevered and had again made a request) though I had done the same earlier, got fed up and left it out.
Happy Holidays

Could you share with me the changes you asked the support to modify? Mine still not working and they have changed my port SIP port a few times.
