Post subject: no idea why
Call the following, strange, stupid, ridiculous, no way, what the beep, you name it.
I take my
Vonage
adaptor to bmardini's house, called
Vonage
using it few times, with a bad voice quality, go home sad.
Plug it at home, only line-2 light turns on, as I have subscribed for two lines. Line-1 dead, not even a dial tone.
Line-2 worked very well, calling, answering and everything !!!
I suspect that line-2 uses different ports than line-1, perhaps necessary to use both lines at the same time.
Try this, login into your
vonage
account, order a new line on the same adaptor (do not request a new adaptor), that will set your budget back a mere $5, and take a chance that might work.
If it did not, keep calling
Vonage
, on your fancy Qtel line, and tell them that your line have bad quality, and they seem to have many buttons to tweak from their side.
I had to forward my line-1 number to line-2, so they both now ring at the same phone, not a major issue.
Yes, you are going to say how the beep this could happen? but I thought I share with you.
Now, why line-2 worked at my house but not bmardini's, that is what they call the 60K question.

Maybe
Vonage
should support VPN tunneling service or other options to people like us in Qatar.
Also, you can verify your
VOIP
is blocked at:
http://www.testyour
voip
.com

Motorola VT1005V modem setup:
Log into your motorola modem : 192.102.1.1
Change IP address from DHCP to a static IP
Input your router IP
Input the q-tel Nameserver IP: 212.77.192.59
Once I did this, my motorola sync'd up and I have
VOIP
again
. Granted, it is choppy, but I'm working on what I can do about that
.
Line 2 is same quality as line 1

Ahmad and I tried to perform the test few times and our connection have failed every time. Which mean the mentioned port is blocked. Ahmad will try a VPN connection with Oash in the states, and if this solution works, we can communicate this solution to
Vonage
and maybe we all can attempt a similar solution.
Happy holidays to every one.

My
VOIP
test report shows that "Port 5060 is blocked".
Test Failed
Your computer couldn't call our location on the standard SIP port (5060) or a commonly available port (6000). This suggests that a firewall is blocking all UDP access including SIP. Please check the following:
* Your Personal Firewall, if you are using Windows XP, may be filtering the SIP and UDP ports used for communication.
* Your home firewall or your broadband provider's firewall may be blocking the SIP and UDP ports used for communication.
Please check these firewall settings and ensure that UDP ports 5060 and 50000 - 50100 are open for RTP streams and SIP signaling.

Since we all want to respect the moderator's wishes, and it seems that technical solutions may well turn out to be "chasing our tails", does anyone want to continue to discuss possible political solutions to this issue elsewhere? Let me know.
