I used to get a nice dial tone when I picked up the receiver. Now I get "
Boop, Boop, Boop, Boop, Boop, Boop" and then a dial tone. Thats not the bad part, though. The voice quality is VERY bad. Sometimes I cannot understand the other person at all.
I have very good internet connection speeds, so that is not the problem. I cannot place a test call to Boston ( or anywhere else)
This started about a month ago and I kept thinking Vonage would fix it, but they have not. Before the problem, my service was good.
I want to get this corrected or get another Voip service. I tried calling the "Contact" number, but after several rings, it just disconnects.
My Data....I am located at Earp, CA. NPGcable.com is my Cable ISP. My connect speeds are super 989 and 500. I have a new Motorola SB5100 Modem , RP31P2 Adapter
Occasionaly the voice quality is ok, but MOST of the time, the phone is useless. I cannot make a test call to Boston

Well, if it sounds like what I think it does, BOOP BOOP BOOP BOOP Dial-tone, means you have a voicemail. It's a stutter tone. Clear your voicemail and it will go away.

Either that or he should stop using his Betty Boop desk phone to make his calls.

Ok That took care of the stutter tone, but the voice quality problem remains. Also, A lot of time when the phones rings and you pick it up, there is nothing there

Yeah and those speeds are not what I would call "super" for a cable connection.

My ISP: OOL 9.6 Mbpsdown /860 kbps up all day. That's pretty sooper.

That's disturbing. Are you getting any error messages? Have you tried plugging your computer directly into your modem and trying the test call?
