I just moved to a new address and when I plugged in the Vonage device all it does is flash the power LED. When I go to the administration panel at http://192.168.102.1/ it is not assigned an external IP address. If I plug my laptop or desktop into the cable modem it is able to get an external IP. Both WAN lights are on below the jack. Do I need to do something to tell it to renew the IP address?

Motorola VT1005V

Thanks for any help.

Clone the MAC address, quite possible your ISP filters MAC addresses.

Tried a couple different MAC addresses, also tried setting the IP address static from what my computer had connected with earlier (didn't think this would work and it didn't) Wink

flashing power light would have nothing to do with filtering mac addresses, although a detailed network setup would be nice. is http://192.168.102.1/ the admin page for the motorola? interesting you can access it while the power light is flashing if so. try simply unplugging the phone cord and powering up the moto. let the power light flash and see if it stops. the flashing is indicative of a firmware update, though it will also do that if the device has failed. also make sure you're using the power supply that came with the motorola, even if you replaced it with one that supplies the same power, it can mess it up.

It is connected directly to the cable modem through the WAN port, I can connect to the admin page via the pc port using the internal ip addresses. I found additional information about the power LED flashing twice which means it is trying to obtain an IP address. I also tried restoring to factory defaults but to no avail

Sorry Reebok but the flashing light can have something to do with filtered MAC addresses since there is a 4 stage blink sequence associated with it. And like he just posted 2 blinks means it is still trying to get an IP address, a MAC not recognized on the network would result in this particular device being stuck on the 2 blink sequence. However on the Linksys devices the flashing pow light simply informs you that the device is taking firmware or profile changes.

I love that I submited support incident and they didn't even read it they just sent back a response with things to try all of which I told them I already tried. I guess I just need to break down and by a router.

I gather that it was working at the old address? Who is your new provider? Do your computers work if you plug them into the ethernet port on the VT instead of directly into the modem? I think a call to your ISP is in order.

In the meanwhile, it sounds as if your computer is set up to get an IP automatically, since it connects to the internet when plugged into the modem and to the VT status page when plugged in there. Likewise the VT must be set as a DHCP server. Is the VT also set to get an IP automatically on the WAN?
