I changed my Vonage phone number today, and now I am unable to dial out. I have been a customer for over a year, with few problems, but this has me stumped. Naturally I rebooted my RT31P2 router, but still nothing but a fast busy signal no matter what number I attempt to dial. I don't want to waste my cell minutes calling Vonage customer service- the last time I called them I was on hold for over an hour. Any help or tips would be appreciated. |

Registration Status: 555-555-5555 15555555 Online Call1 Status: Idle Call2 Status: Idle -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Line2 Status Registration Status: Offline Call1 Status: Idle Call2 Status: Idle (note 555-555-5555 is not my real numer- changed for security) The number is wrong - the number is my old numer. It should read 666-666-6666, but it read 555-555-5555
The phone light is on. |

your number isn't 555-555-5555? heh, anyway, that's a good sign, odd you're getting a redial tone. is the number it shows your old number or the new one? also, what happens if you (manually) dial *123 for voicemail? |

The number is shows is the old number, not the new one that they send via e-mail. If I dial *123 I get a fast busy signal. |

ok, so, it sounds like your old number is "turned off" and your device isn't provisioned with your new number yet to me. though I wouldn't think it would show Registration Status Online. I would try another reset, powering it off for two minutes or so. did they give you an eta on the new number? Vonage seems to have some features that are "pay now get feature in 24 hours or more." |

They didn't give an eta- they said Quote: | Your new Vonage Telephone Number, Voicemail Access Number and temporary PIN are:
| and then they listed my new phone number, so I assumed it was already active.
On my Vonage account page it lists the new number as being active. The weird thing is that they list:
Quote: | 1-(666)-666-6666 1-(888)-888-8888(Toll Free) 1-(555)-555-5555(Voicemail Only) |
I did not ask them to keep my old number for voicemail, and I elected to not have any forwarding at all, so I don;t know why my old number is even listed!
I turned off the modem for several minutes - is there anything else I can do to reboot/reset it? After unplugging the modem for 15 minutes, and then plugging it back in, and then checking that IP address it still shows my number as being the old number. there has to be some way to get that out of there...
It;s sounding more and more like I need to call vonage... arrgh |

I'm not real sure what to do from here. it may clear up with time, when your router gets the new profile pushed to it, but that's just a guess. |

Well- that one had the techs stumped, also. I was online for a LOOOOOONG time with several techs and they all gave up and decidced to send me a new router. I think it is odd that changing my phone number makes the router go bad. At least this time they didn't make me pay for the router up front - I have 14 days to get the old router back to them (the last time I had router problems they made me pay up front, and then credit my account- which is a pain). Anyway- fun fun in vonageland. Thanks for your help. |

I find it amazing that simply requesting a new phone number, when I already had an exisitng working Vonage number/router, causes the router to fail somehow. Oh well, I asked them to send me a RTP300 instead of a RT31P2, so hopefully that will help in the future.
I find this to be very odd... |
