Thanks for the information. By and large, and with the help of Steve, I finally got up and running and learned an awful lot in the process. One minor objective to work out is communicating the alarm output descriptions to NextAlarm. I need to fill out the zone description sheet so they will know what device has been triggered at my end. Right now, I believe they might get a zone 3 alarm and maybe they don't/won't know what zone 3 is. My ADT panel will say "front door". Do I need to disconnect from NextAlarm and go through my house window by window, etc. and write down the zones and descriptions to communicate that to my monitoring company? I have the programming sheet for my alarm but the description is vague, like perimeter alert. Any thoughts on how to get the information I need? |

When your account is fully active (i.e. when NextAlarm is monitoring and reporting to the authorities on your alarm system) you will have a web page from which you can see all the codes that your alarm has sent to NextAlarm, along with the ability to put the alarm in test mode, 'Update your Contact Sheet, and for what you're asking about, 'Update Zones & Equipment Sheet'.
Here you have an online way to enter your Zone Number, Location (Front Door etc., Type (Perimeter, Interior, etc.), and Response (Police, Fire, etc.). The tech who called me to get my alarm communicating with them filled that out while we were on the phone, but you have complete control of it through the web management interface. The ability to see and manage the configuration and requested responses is the big difference between NextAlarm and everyone else (not to mention the price!). If you need to identify each zone by setting off the alarm, just put the system in to test mode using your web configuration page. You can also see what is connected to each zone just by opening doors, windows, etc. with the alarm disarmed - you should see a zone fault for each zone at the control panel everytime one is opened. |

Hi,
I was reading this old thread, helped me a lot to understand Vonage connections. I would like first to enquire that is still all is valid to what iis in this post. Also I would like to confirm following:
1) Is Vonange quality is good enough to work with contact ID. If not what is the way to overcome the shortcoming.
2) Assuming if Vonage can tweak some configuration to work with Contact ID, then will I be loosing quality on the normal voice communication.
3) I plane to use GE SIMON XT. Will this work with Vonage.
Thanks |
