personally, I think that if you do need or will ever need sip cridentials (ie not an ata), you should go with someone other than Vonage for exactly this reason. Vonage has a great service, and is extremely reliable (in my experience at least) but their policy on this matter makes them far less useful to people who know what they're doing with Voip and SIP endpoints. vonage-ata-fxo-server-sipphone is an ugly hack at best, and can be very tempremental.
I really wish they would offer an option where you pay like $5 extra /mo, lose most of the tech support access, and in return get your sip logins. Even if they only did this on the $50/mo small biz plans, that would be fine. The extra revenue (especially from non-business users who use very few minutes getting the $50/mo biz plan) would offset any problems it would cause and it would make a lot of people much happier. (or at least they could bring the prices on Vonage business edition back down into the stratosphere). |

Umm, they might be in the process of this already. They just STARTED with the "lose most of the tech support access" step, for everyone. <only half grin> |
