Post subject: Simulring - add intelligence
If I simulring my cellphone, and I try to call my
Vonage
phone from that cell phone, it goes straight to Cell phone VM. Can't SImulring be smart enough not to simulring a number if the number that is calling is the same number it is set to simulring?

I realize that this might not work for all, but its great for me:
I didn't like getting vm in two places anyway, so I...
1) set simulring to my cell
2) completely disabled/removed my cell voicemail
3) set
Vonage
VM to text my cell when I get a message.
4) programmed an autodial on my cellphone to call and enter codes to retrieve my
Vonage
vm (not by calling my own number, but by calling the
Vonage
vm access number)
Now, I give nobody my cell number. All phones ring for any call. All voicemail goes to only place -
Vonage
vm. I hated having to retrieve vm from two sources separately. This system works great.

What does ths do to your mobile to mobile minutes? For incoming calls from a member of a like carrier is what I refer to.

On your
Vonage
account website,
1) click VoiceMail from top menu.
2) Click "Voicemail Settings" (next to "current phone number")
3) Click "Voicemail Email Notification"
For Verizon, messages sent to "[YourMobilNumber]@vtext.com" are sent to the phone as text messages. Don't know for other providers.

I assume (but am not sure) that if the originator of the incoming call is "in-network" then the call is recognized and treated as an in-network call. However, if an in-network caller gets my
Vonage
voicemail, it not an in-network call for them.

No, the Voicemail server is an In Network call also, its configured as a forewarded call from the line, so that even if it weren't it would be billed to the recieving line.

Post subject: setup a filter for SimulRing
I am surprised it's taking
Vonage
so long to get a fix
"If you list your cell phone number in your SimulRing call number list than you are not able to call (vonage) home using your cell phone. It goes right to
Vonage
VM. Makes sense right?"
Dear
Vonage
... Please setup a filter, if a phone call is made to
Vonage
from a number listed on the SimulRing number list, does NOT auto forward to that number.
Vonage
is capturing the caller-id, so this should be a good fix?
Second, if you list a cell phone number with SimulRing and you turn off the cell phone. Most of all cell phone providers will enable VM to turn on right away, right? Or if you disable VM on the cell phone provider, they will kick off a pre-recorded network message. In that case, SimulRing will break again, because the cell phone VM will answer the call made to a
Vonage
after the first ring.
I think SimulRing feature is awesome, but these problems are critical for anyone to really use it. If you could please assign me a temporary second number, that would allow me to call home (vonage) using my cellphone. Once you make your fix, you can take away the second line from our account. I believe that would be a nice jester, since
Vonage
thought it would be a good idea to have SimulRing in a production, not beta!
Loyal
Vonage
Customer, thanks!

I agree. SimulRing is a very nice feature, especially since they added support for several SimulRing phone numbers. Unfortunately, entering a phone number into that list is like giving that phone a death card if it tries to call home.
The first one is the one that hit me, but I didn't even think about the second until now! The first problem seems to have a simple solution that
Vonage
will
hopefully
fix in the near future, but is there anything that could be done about the cell phone-turned-off issue?
