I have received a transfer date and today is that date. I know from reading other posts that a date does not guarantee anything. But today, I no longer have a dial tone on my original verizon line, and when I call my number it doesn't ring on my vonage phone. It just says call failed. So as of right now, I have no original phone, plus I can't receive calls on my vonage phone. There is a dial tone. If I call my temp. virtual number it does ring on my vonage phone.
Does anyone know if there is any lag time from the time phone company turns off number to when it works on vonage's end?
Thank you |

My experience was that there was an overlap between the time my POTS line turned off and the time my number offically ported to Vonage.
On the day of transfer, there was a short period of time when neither line rang. I belive the email they send out notes this and also suggestes that you reboot your adapter. |

You were right, there was a short lag time. I can receive calls now on my Vonage phone. Everything seems fine, but I never got any email saying it went through. All I know is it works, so I'm excited about that. Do I have to call cancel my POTS line? Thanks for you response. |

Your POTS line should be disconnected by your POTS line provider. You might want to call and confirm with them.
This was my experience. |

You do not have to cancel your pots service as you are no longer a customer. Vonage will tell you this in your notification email. You will receive a final bill from your pots carrier at some point and Vonage likely will email you within one business day of the transfer. |

I'm going through that too. I started in early October and they (Vonage) canceled my first LPN transfer. No one there seems to be able to tell me why. Now, I've sent my second LOA and they claim that I haven't, but their online response from the link in my dashboard says that it has already been processed and it won't let me do any more.
The trouble sure isn't worth the one free month that Vonage offers 'cause in the meantime, I have to pay two phone bills for basically the same service.
I wonder if the BBB knows about these problems. Maybe we should file or contact our States Attorney Generals office or the Public Utilities Commision. Might get something done then. |
