Pretty lousy!

This issue has been discussed before. If you call back, insist on talking to a higher level supervisor each time you get a "no". Emphasize the bad service issue and the unfair shipping charges and refuse to take no for an answer. Other people have gotten them to give in- but you might have to accept a credit on your account rather than a refund.

i just went threw this today they charge my bank account 99 dollars and some change.I have had the faulty router boxed up since the day they sent me a replacement.i been around and around with everyone at custremer support.i have dealt with many companies about faulty equipment and they always at least send you a return shipping label with all the info printed on it .i never seen anything like this.i been a user for 18 months and have refereed 6 people without taking the refer bonus and now i get the shaft from them.
they have offered nothing
i have demand to talk to a superviser and wouldn't let me at first now there supposed to call me back within 24 hours.
the worst part is the 99 charge made me account bank account bounce as it was the day before my check went in the account so the 2.85 charge for a couple bottles of soda bounce also so far this little default router has cost me nearly 190.00 with bank fees and i still cant get it resolved. and to add insult to injure now i have to spend around 12 dollars to send it back to them.priority mail and signurate required ain't now way i'm sending it with tracking and someone signing for it it arrives.the way thing going they say they never received it.
my life is tied to the phone so i cant tell them to where to put there service like i like to.
I just want all my money back and to give them there broken old router.

Well, it seems it's easier to get a credit AFTER sending the item back.

Just spoke to the best customer service person at Vonage who sympathized with me and gave me a credit 'due to the excessive calling from my cell phone to customer service to resolve issues due to my Vonage line not operating fully'.

Which is true! And it wasn't technically a credit for the shippng but certainly covers my shipping cost.

Much happier now after all the frustration. Thanks for the advice everyone.

No offense but this sounds like it is your issue..you had it boxed up, but never sent it. That's your fault.

You can't blame Vonage for the fact your $2.85 charge for the sodas made the account go into the negative. Only person you can blame is you on that one.

If you had sent it back instead of just leaving it in the box you wouldn't have had these issues.

If they sent the information on where to send the thing to begin with none of this would happen.I can blame them as I was never told anything about this.
they said they send me a new modem as this first was defective but if dont send a person instruction on what to do with the old one what are they supoosed to do.
they only reason i didnt just threw the first one out was becuase i had dealt with other companies on defecticve products .if i hadnt know this i would had just thrown the old one out and really been screwed.
It not like they dont have my phone number and could have called and ask if i shipped the old one back.
im not not try to be unresonable i just what them to get there router back and me to get my money back.
Second of all.under any contract you must notify the person of a change in the contract and no where in my oringal contract does it state i will be responisble for shipping charges.
im just lookign for the right contact person to resolve this howl thing but from reading the board for over a hour now it seems there is next to know way to get a manager .
and if someone charges you something you have no knowledge off how does it become your fault
im try to resolve the hole issue with canceling my account and going threw the hole headache.
it not hard to chargeback the charges and be done with it and block them from charging anything to my debit card.but i wasnt try to go that route but if that is the way it must be done than fine but your responds off flaming isnt helping.So if you dont have any constructive way to help bite me.

Did you ever look at the website there, bud?

Shipping & Returns

How do I return a product to Vonage?

To return a product, please contact Customer Care to obtain a Return Authorization (RA) number. If you are returning the Phone Adapter, please have the MAC address available. The MAC address is located on the bottom of the Phone Adapter.

The RA number must be written on the packing slip and on the outside of the box. Include your contact information with your name, address, phone number, and RA number inside the package.

Send the package to:

Vonage Customer Care
2147 Route 27
Edison, NJ 08817

Clearly write your RA number on the outside of the package.

Please refer to the Terms of Service for more information on our return policy.

And that states:

3. CHARGES; PAYMENTS; TAXES; TERMINATION
3.1 Billing. When the service is activated, you must provide us with a valid email address and a credit or debit card number from a card issuer that we accept. We reserve the right to stop accepting credit or debit cards from one or more issuers. If your credit or debit card expires, you close your account, your billing address changes, or your credit or debit card is cancelled and replaced on account of loss or theft, you must advise us at once. We will bill all charges, applicable taxes and surcharges monthly in advance (except for usage-based charges, which will be billed monthly in arrears, and any other charges which we decide to bill in arrears) to your credit or debit card, including but not limited to:
activation fees;
monthly Service fees;
international usage charges;
advanced feature charges;
equipment purchases;
termination fees; and
shipping and handling charges.
The amount of such fees and charges shall be published on our website and may change from time to time. Notification of monthly invoices will be sent to you via your email address on file with us. We reserve the right to bill at more frequent intervals if the amount you owe to us at any time exceeds $50. Any usage charges will be billed in increments that are rounded up to the nearest minute except as otherwise set forth in the rate schedules found on our website.

Again, I have returned almost 5 adapters to them and have always received reminder emails.

It's not a modem, it is a phone adapter.

You don't threw things out, you throw them out.

It has always stated in the TOS that the customer is responsible for return shipping.

You want to resolve this whole thing, not this howl thing.

And a chargeback for fees etc you agreed to will not go well with your bank.

So there will be no biting of you from me going on today.

their is mistakes threwout the howl thing!

You know he didn't read the TOS or any of that, literacy is not his strong point.

And again, I agree this policy stinks, but that's the way it works. Next time read through before you blindly click OK. What if someone made an EULA that said you had to give me your house, cars, and first born children if you terminated early?

Vonage doesn't pay for return shipping. Used to. Used to send return labels. Doesn't any more. MANY people were promised labels, waited for them, didn't (and won't) get them and then got CC charges cuz the rtrs were late in returning and Vonage automatically bills.

BUT, if you show tracking evidence of a return date to Vonage anywhere near the 30 day return limit, they almost always put the $$$ back on yer CC.
