I just signed up for Vonage service requesting a brand new number (not a port). The number Vonage assigned to me belongs to someone else! When I call my number I get "Joanne" who explained to me that she used to have Vonage, but ported her number to Qwest several months ago.
(1) Can I change my primary Vonage number online, or do I need to go through a customer service rep?
(2) I would like to pick my new number (not just the area code). Has anyone had success convincing Vonage to allow this? |

I work for amobile phone provider in the US, and I deal with several ports a day. We have experienced some issues similar to this. It is not due to Vonages systems, but the Porting Administrations Group (PAG) Systems forcing current numbers into recycle status. They are working to resolve this issue, and it is known.  |

You can change it online but there is a fee. Best bet would be to call Customer Service and see if they can do it free of charge. As for picking the number, I am almost sure you can't, but it can't hurt to try. |
