they don't even have a real hold feature per say. what you know as hold is meant only to be used with call waiting and 3-way calling. and all it really does is route the RTP stream to 0.0.0.0. yes it would be possible, even quite easy, to route to a server that simply plays music or some sort of message... you know when i started typing this that seemed like a bad idea, now it actually seems like a really good one.... <runs to corporate suggestion box> |

We have the Vtech VT 40-2421 System - does anyone know of a music on hold system that will work for this phone system - and if so - how much and how does it work?

You can use the models SX8400 or SX8500 on Vonage lines with the VT40-2421 phones or any other phones and it works fine. Please note only those models are tested and work with Vonage service. These models are available at http://www.music-on-hold.net/order/
or at http://www.invotel.com/ |

Regarding the SX8500 - it comes with a pre-loaded disc yes? If we wanted to record a new message on the disc, can we do this with our Apple Macs? What is the return policy?
Thanks!

SunRocket offered MOH. It was very rudimentary, but it was network based and it worked. Basically you pressed the switch hook once to place a call on hold and either placed the receiver in the cradle or on your desktop. (placing in the cradle initiated a ring back approximately every 10 seconds) A second press of the switch hook returned the held party to the conversation. An interesting feature I found with the SunRocket MOH was that the caller had the ability to mute/unmute the MOH by pressing the * key as a toggle. I guess SunRocket was not able to stay in the game since they have closed their doors. But, maybe Vonage with their solid financial footing and the Alpha program, someone will write a server based MOH program for us for Christmas! Happy Holidays to everyone. |
