When I was on Cox Digital phone, not once did I receive a telemarketer call. My number was just ported over to Vonage today and have already received 4 telemarketer calls, one is a company that is a know issue.

http://www.livejournal.com/users/azurelunatic/4645057.html

Is Vonage giving our numbers out and why? Was there something is the terms that I did not read. This is B.S. if this is the case. Vonage you need to do something about this. I have young kids and I can not continue to received these calls late at night.

I have already placed my number on the Do Not Call list a few years ago and this is not stopping them, so it has to be Vonage... Not happy at all...

Anyone else receiving calls from CMI, Quantum with area code of 214?

I can tell you in the year I have had Vonage I have not received a telemarketing call at all..Plus the donotcall list would carryover to Vonage...

Are you sure you kids did not put you number into a website etc to register for something by chance?

Yes I can say they did not. One is 4 months old and the other is almost 2 years old. Good question though.

Yes I was extremely surprise too. That is why I am asking if Vonage is releasing numbers. As I mentioned before, I don't recall ever receiving a telemarkets call with Cox...

ha, i'd be wondering if Cox didn't put you on some telemarketer's list.
I also have had no telemarketers calling my Vonage phone in over 6 months of service.

What a perfect tactic to get customers back..."I didn't get any telemarketers with Cox's phone..."

And don't be so sure about those kids. Didn't you see that documentary, "Baby Geniuses?"

I haven't had any problems with telemarketers since switching. Except for Southern Bell calling to try to get me back. I enjoy quoting the Vonage price to them and asking what they can do for me....

The only ones that ever come in are from a forwarded business number from SBC on line 2. But in the past 6 months I have been recording them on the donotcall list and informing them of that, and they have dropped dramatically...

I got a brand new number from Vonage when I signed up in July. Since then, I have not received a SINGLE telemarketing call of any kind. Ever. That may change, someday, but so far so good.

I have not recevied any telemarketing calls besides one from political candidates and charatable orgs. Been on the state of florida and national do not call list. You probley gave your info to some sorta company that is selling it. Vonage does not give your info to telemarketers. I would reccomend keeping an air horn used in boats next to your phone and when they call blow it in the phone at them.

Shortly after I switched to Vonage I began to receive telemarketing calls again. I checked the do not call list and my number was no longer on it. I reregistered and that took care of the problem. Not sure if porting the number caused it to be removed.

Thanks for the tip. I just checked and mine wasn't on there anymore either. I have been getting some telemarketing calls, but they mostly came up as "unknown number." Previously, with Verizon, those calls were blocked unless the person provided their name when calling. (I had call intercept) so I never suspected that my number may have been removed from the Do Not Call list.

I had registered my cell phone number at the same time as my home number in 2003 and I verified that that one is still on the list. Being that the one I ported to Vonage disappeared off the list and the other one did not, I suspect you are correct that porting the number caused it to be removed.
