Hmm... When I ported my number I verified that I was still on the Do Not Call list. I also just verified again and I am still on there. Maybe this is a new "feature" when porting numbers. Wink

I wonder if a change was made when they switched to the E-Lnp as opposed to paper.

Nope. I used E-LNP about 3 months ago and just verified that my number, registered in 2003, is still on the list.

For what it's worth, my number was ported in January 2005. I had requested in November 2004 for the port so it took almost two months.

I never checked the Do Not Call list until now, but I did originally register it in June 2003. I don't know when between January and now it was removed. I'm glad it's back on there now!

I have been a Vonage customer for 2-3 weeks. Not one telemarketer. I did not port a number. I just checked my new number and it is not on the list.

I guess I will add it to the list. (Thanks OP for reminding me to do this). Here is a link to the registry for anyone else that would like to check or register. National Do Not Call Registry

I have added my number back to the Do not Call list and it seems like the telemarketers have stopped calling. I received only 0 calls since the 23rd. I would say when in doubt relist your number when porting your number over.

It's difficult to understand how changing phone companies would result in a number being removed from the DNC list. That would require either collusion with the list administrators or use of a fraudulent email address to have the number delisted.

For the record I ported to Vonage about six weeks ago, and my number is still active on the DNC list.

I wonder if some of the phone companies report that they have released the number. For example, I ported my number from Verizon. Once the number transfer was completed, Verizon cancelled my account. Could they have reported to the FTC that my number has been released? If so, then the FTC could take it off the Do Not Call list because they think that maybe the number will be issued to someone else? To confuse things further, Vonage isn't regulated by the government. We pay no federal taxes. Does the government keep track of which phone numbers they collected tax from or do they trust that the phone companies are paying them the proper amount?
