I tend to agree - partially! Sveasoft and DD-WRT both have LOTS of extra junk in them - kind of the "everything AND the kitchen sink" approach. I'm using HyperWRT, which from the beginning, has had a philosophy of staying much closer to the stock firmware, but adding a few very good features. Advanced QoS (which Linksys now appears to have grabbed and integrated into the stock stuff), static IPs (ever get tired of having to change the port forwarding every time you reboot and the router hands out different IPs?), and wireless bridge mode built into the GUI are the main things that are there that aren't in the stock firmware, along with a few other niceties, but still about as easy to configure as stock, and much more bugfree than the bloated stuff like Sveasoft.
Oh, by the way - free vs $20 for the Sveasoft stuff also. |
