I became a Vonage subscriber a couple of weeks ago. As soon as I got my phone number, I went to the control panel and forwarded it to another number, which was my plan all along. I did get my router but haven't taken it out of the box yet.
I hope this isn't too "nit-picky", but... is it possible to get a different phone number? Unfortunately, totally by coincidence, the number I was issued is similar to another number I use, and it's causing confusion - the Vonage number turned out to be almost exactly the same digits, but in a different order.
I'd expect to pay a fee to do this, or perhaps even have to unsubscribe and resubscribe...? Any suggestions? Who do I contact, and how? (phone number or email only?) |

Yes, cost is $9.95. Signon to your account, go to billing, and on the right hand side of the page is a place to change your Vonage number. |

Woohoo - thanks! Would it be best to wait till I'm in front of the computer the router will be hooked up to, before I make that change? That's the same computer I used to establish the account to begin with.
I know I can get to my control panel from other computers, but if I change the number that way from a different machine, will Vonage try to associate the number with that machine, leading to possible problems? Or is it seamless and transparent as long as I'm logged in correctly when I make the change, no matter what computer I do it from? |

The computer does not figure in at all. You can access your account from any computer to make changes to your acciunt.
Your computer being present or not has not bariing to the Vonage system.
